I noticed a few people like Pressed Rat and others love their beer and mention all kinds of brands I've never heard of before. I'd like to get some ideas for new ones to try, if people could post their favorites we can maybe get a big list of good beers going. For myself my favorites right now (cdn domestic) would be Sleemans honey brown or original sleemans, Moosehead, and Carlsburg. Imports I can remember that I liked were Stella, Holsten Festbock (7% one not the 5), and a whole bunch I can't remember the names of off hand, but I usually go for German, Austrian, and Belgian beers. There are so many I've had that I can't remember right now, I should start writing them down...
Waiter, Becks and vodka on the rocks for me, please! Seriously, I know there is a profusion of new brands coming out, I think from the west coast. But they all seem to taste sweet, and therefore by definition I do not like them.
Damn, this will be a long list since my tastes encompass so many different styles of beer. I will try to narrow it down. For one, I really love the Belgian ales (Chimay, Rochefort Trappistes, Duvel, Orval, St. Bernardus, Westmalle, Delirium Tremens, La Chouffe, Kasteel, etc.) There are also many good Belgian-style ales made in the US and Canada. Unibroue of Chambly, Quebec, makes some of the best Belgian-style beers in the world, that rival even those made in Beglium (ie. La Fin du Monde, Trois Pistols, Don De Dieu, Maudite, etc.) There are also some great Belgian-style ales made in the US, in particular, from the Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown, NY, which makes an excellent Belgian farmhouse-style sassoon ale called Hennepin. They also make an excellent Belgian Quadrupel called 'Three Philosophers', and a Belgian dark ale, simply called 'Ommegang'. When I am not drinking Belgians, I enjoy a lot of different beers from England, Germany, and many of the craft brews made in the US, which are too numerous to mention by brewery. I really like IPA's/Imperial IPA's, witbers, hefeweizens, doppelbocks, weizenbocks, stouts, and some barleywines. I really like a lot of the English ales at the moment as well, such as Hobgoblin, Old Peculier, Old Speckled Hen, Fuller's London Pride and ESB, Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale, Young's Double Chocolate Stout, Mackeson's XXX, and a handful of others.
I just used to drink Stella Artois AKA The Wife Beater. All the shops in the UK seem to stock more Stella than any other beer. You get 6 for 5 pounds. I've stopped drinking it though. It was getting too tasty lol. I think that Grolsch is a good beer too. If I'm in a pub or club I'll drink a Bud Ice because it has a nice crisp, clean taste. It's also quite a weak beer do I don't get out of my nut (which is good if theres girls about). I only drink Stella if I'm hanging out with the guys though. If my beer is 5.2% vol then I'm usually happy. Anything more is too strong IMO and anything less is like piss water. Some beers are just crazy! Theres a beer in the UK called Force Ten and its 10% vol.
I love me my Sleeman's Honey Brown. MGD will do in a pinch but it's not really great. Kokanee is like water. And, in truth, I haven't tried many other beers aside from Canadian and Labatt, which were both bleh.
Anything by Sierra-Nevada Breweries... or Mobjack Bay Brewery. Also, Sam Adams, Yuengling, or Bud Ice, for domestic. Guinness.
Rogue's Red Ale : Irish Red Ale Dogfish head Olde School (15% abv ) : Barley Wine Stone's Arrogant Bastard Ale Lagunita's Brown Sugga (10.? % I believe?) Lindemans Peche : Peach Lambic Chimay White : Abbey Ale Fullers Vintage Ale Kasteel Duvell And many, many, many many many many others
I'm not a big beer person but if I had to choose one I would say yuengling lager. I think you can only get it on the east coast. It's really the only beer I enjoy drinking. I can drink miller lite and beer like that, but i dont love them.
i'm canadian so obviously i drink canadian i like carling, or lakeport because they're cheap and go down easy guiness is good, and keiths is pretty nice i'm much more of a liquor drinker though
We got plenty of great microbrew to choose from in the Pacific Northwest Pyramid Bridgeport Full Sail Widmer Red Hook Yuengling was the only thing I could drink in PA, but growing up in Florida, I was shit outta luck, unless you dished it out for Canadian like Moosehead or St. Pauli Girl.
Busch Light. Seriously though... I like lots of Irish beers... Guiness, Murphy's... Like some of Sam Adams' blends, and when it comes to budget I usually drink Red Stripe, Fat Tire, Honey Brown... and when it comes to realllly budget. Pabst Blue Ribbon!
nah, you can get it a lot of different places. i never really liked it, though. you have to look for it in larger stores where the whole variety is huge.
i like harp in the summertime. not a lot of weight or flavor to it, but enough kick to make it worthwhile.
