Yeah. I've been thinking about it. I just really don't know what I'd eat, I mean like besides fruits and veggies. What do you do for bread, considering it has milk and eggs in it? And plus my mother is being oh so supportive of me. Her response to my thought: "Oh hell no." great.
Food! There are probably loads of things you eat and enjoy already which just happen to not contain animal products. Just google 'vegan recipes' and you'll find so many options. Hmm well the supermarket bread here is usually vegan anyway, so I've never had that problem. You could learn to make your own from vegan recipes or do some research into suppliers in your area. Do as much research as you can about nutrition/recipes/whatever then sit her down and talk through her concerns and what you're going to do make sure they're not an issue. My mother is still like that, but I'm just getting on with it and proving her wrong.
My bread never has milk or eggs in it:S i always check the packets...no milk or eggs... My diet now is wider than it was previously. I hope if you decide to make the move it goes well for you! It works amazingly for me.. As for what i eat, the list is huge. Soya bakes are brilliant. These can be found in health food shops...usually saying someting like "chicken style" or "soysage mix" but infact they dont taste like meat, they have their own taste. Veg stirfrys, fruits, beans, tofu, pasta, rice, various sauces, cereals, veg mince, nut burgers, nuts, soy cheese products, sandwiches, salads, CHIPS!, soysages, crisps, soya milk chocolate, plain chocolate (but always check labels), vegan biscuits, porridge... The amount you can do with fruits and veggies is vast too. Stirfrys, casseroles, salads, puddings... Good luck in whatever you choose xx

It focuses on nutrition and not animal welfare like most such kits do. Where are you at right now as far as your diet? A vegan diet is not that difficult, especially if you do a lot of cooking for yourself which after going vegetarian I found myself doing more and more. Do a search for vegan recipes and you will be overwhelmed with what all is out there. You certainly don't have to just eat raw fruits and vegetables. You also don't have to be a soy junkie. Excluding soy sause I probably only eat soy in the form of tofu once or twice a month.
Yeah I think they make vegan bread and they make a lot of vegan things, try out Whole Foods. It probably is easy if you cook for yourself, but not if you like to go out unless you live in California or something. Gosh around here its hard to find vegetarian things, I doubt if I was vegan I'd ever be able to eat out. Just try not to get too skinny hehe.. good luck. =)
I've found a few whole grain vegan breads at my regular grocery. My fave so far is the "baker's inn" brand multi-grain loaf. Just go through them and find one w/o milk or eggs. I found it surprisingly easy to make the switch, and I'm eating a wider variety of foods, without really spending much if any more money or time on it. Maybe it's just because I don't fall back on mac n cheese all the time... Really, though, I'm amazed when I tell people I've made that change in my life and they respond with "My god, what do you eat!?". There's soooo much awesome easy to prepare vegan food out there, I haven't even fallen back on convenience foods, gardenburgers, non-dairy "cheeses" or anything. Just eating lots of veggies and fruit and whole grains and nuts, with the occasional soya meal thrown in. Good luck with whatever you decide!
Baker's Inn Multigrain is one of the few whole grain breads that does not contain honey, but most white bread is Vegan. If you are going to be Vegan in someone else's house, it's probably a good idea to learn to cook. There are thousands of good recipes for Vegan food out there, and it will be a lot easier to convince your mum that this change is a good thing if you are taking direct responsibility for your food choices. Also, cooking from whole foods will place less of a financial burden on your family, since Vegan convenience foods can be expensive.

I will try to become vegan once I move out, cause right now, my parents have already adjusted enough for me and my sis, who are both veggies, and I dont think they will adjust any more for me if I want to be vegan, so it will be hard to get food I can actually eat if I become vegan. haha
Hatter, could you go vegan in reverse? Your mom is concerned about the diet. OK, but you can get non leather shoes, not use personal hygene products with animal byproducts, or testing, etc. Get all the other stuff that people usually get later. maybe be lacto only until you are on your own (or step into vegan so slowly mom does not really notice), or when it is convenient for the household (a peaceful partial solution). post punk kitchen had the most delicious vegan brownie recipe. i hadnt eaten sweets in months seeing as im too lazy to bake and never cared much for them, but they were tasty. and i got to suprise many non-vegans who refused to believe they were made with tofu haha.

I've been going strong for about a year now (vegan) You just feel so much better than you do while supporting the milk industry (and as a result the veal industry) and also you aren't guzzling down puss infected bullshit drink that is addictive by NATURE...break the addiction!
haha, i applaud your enthusiasm, grateful. Veganism's not that hard. Been on and off depending on my living situation for the past 8 months or so, but I've been vegan for the past few weeks. I hope to keep it that way, that's why I got a job. lol. just read ingredients. Read nutritional information. Not hard to do at all. Vegan cooking is the same as vegetarian or even cooking meat. Same procedures, different ingredients.
