not only is lsd difficult to make, it is extremely dangerous to attempt unless you really know what you are doing. some possible results of a botched batch are gangrene and death...leave it to the pros, man.
I didn't really mean that you needed a PhD to make it. I have almost a minor and I understand about 70% of the process. I just meant that a PhD would make it easier, since you would probably work at a chemical plant or at a university, either position would allow you to purchase necessary chemicals (save the ergotamine and the other one that I named that is illegal). As a Masters or Bachelors prepared chemist, you wouldn't have the opportunity to access these chemicals. As for the fact that someone is making LSD, it's true. Someone is. BUT, it has become scarcer in recent years. This might have to do with two massive busts in the past 7 years. One in Kansas where 90lbs of LSD was seized, and another in California that was busted. The one in California was making enough LSD to supply the annual demand for the entire US (roughly 100 million hits annually).

You have to carefully purify the final extract before proceeding with the final rxn's. The reagents and glassware can be bought from many vendors if you present yourself as a professional. Since you know you'll stumble along the way, you'll get a GC/MS unit which will tell you that what you have is not what you were trying to make, and you'll have to keep at it till you get it right. And you'll know that even learning how to use this instrument will require much study and practice in itself. Finally, throughout the entire journey, you'll be operating as the ultimate maverick: an alchemist, magician, actor, criminal, and social engineer covertly traveling a tortuous path through a society of contradictions that will label you both a hero and a criminal. So don't let the naysayers discourage you. To do what you want to do is very, very, very, very difficult. But it's NOT impossible. And somebody DOES have to do it.
i donno if anyones said this already because i dont wanna read all the posts but not only is LSD extremely hard to make, quite a few of the ingrediants are extremely hard to obtain. For some of the key ingrediants you must get govenment premission to obtain them and state a legitimate reason. Once obtained you must report back to them what your progress is. This also means you must be a certified chemist. So unless your going to grab some of the ingrediants off the black market, good luck. Then to make it your going to need a shitload of precise and expensive lab equiptment. So if you need to ask if its hard to make it then you have no chance.

BUT! I just thought. If you were to move to a country where ergotamine is NOT exceptionally difficult to obtain. Hmm.
What about growing rye or something and hoping it contamines with ergot? K i dono much about making acid but its not like there is no other way to get ergot. Cause if all these people on this forum are gettin lsd, where does the main chemist get it. Plus if yu really wanna make it, you gotta spend ALL the amount of time in chemistry till you know everythin it takes to make lsd. Plus think of the benefits, one of the best chemicals known to man and you know how to make it.
Well, growing ergot does work. The problem there is isolating crops that are potent in ergotamine and then growing tons of it and synthesizing it into the chemical. Honestly, this is probably how most of the LSD today is made. BUT, I'm lazy and would rather fly to argentina and purchase ergotamine over the counter than to attempt to grow ergot (especially because they are HIGHLY toxic). Of course, the detriments if the DEA busts you is potentially life in prison without parole. But when I purchase my own damn island, and declare it a separate nation from the US...I will say fuck them and learn to manufacture.
Ive heard about the moldy rye bread method too from a good friends who is a very experienced drug user. Hes done it multiple times with good results. In fact he is planning on making some fairly soon...
