    I take Wellbutrin for adhd and it works wonders. The problem I am having is with anxiety. I don't want to take conventional medicine for my anxiety because they make me cloudy and I have problems with addiction.
    can I take St Johns Wart with my Wellbutrin?

    I wouldn't combine the two, certainly not without a Doctor or pharmacists advice.

    Doesn't this seem like the kind of thing you should ask your pharmacist rather than the internet?

    Of course my pharmacist is going to tell me not to take it as he is in the pharmaceutical buisness and an herbalist is going to tell me not to take the wellbutrin. So yes I came here to try and get objective advice. Do you have an answer for me or are you just here to patronize me so you can make yourself feel better?

    Let me get this straight - you're asking random people on the internet whether two drugs will have a reaction when taken in tandem, when one of them is known to have potentially fatal results when mixed with other types of anti-depressants.

    And then you have the nerve to question my motives? Some random chick who can't tell the difference between a jackass with wikipedia and an "objective opinion".

    Here is what two minutes worth of research did:

    What other drugs will affect St. John's wort?

    • St. John's wort may interact with many other medicines, possibly increasing side effects or resulting in decreased therapeutic effects. Do not take St. John's wort without first talking to your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
    · a monoamine oxidase inhibitor such as tranylcypromine (Nardil), phenelzine (Parnate), or isocarboxazid (Marplan);
    · a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor such as citalopram (Celexa), fluvoxamine (Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), or sertraline (Zoloft);
    · a migraine medicine such as almotriptan (Axert), frovatriptan (Frova), eletriptan (Relpax), naratriptan (Amerge), sumatriptan (Imitrex), or zolmitriptan (Zomig);
    · a tricyclic antidepressant such as amitriptyline (Elavil), amoxapine (Asendin), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), doxepin (Sinequan), imipramine (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor), protriptyline (Vivactil), or trimipramine (Surmontil);
    · furazolidone (Furoxone);
    · linezolid (Zyvox);
    · procarbazine (Matulane);
    · selegiline (Eldepryl);
    · bupropion (Wellbutrin, Zyban);
    · trazodone (Desyrel) or nefazodone (Serzone);
    · venlafaxine (Effexor);
    · mirtazapine (Remeron);
    · sodium oxybate (Xyrem);
    · levomethadyl acetate (Orlaam);
    · cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral, Gengraf);
    · an HIV/ AIDS protease inhibitor such as indinavir (Crixivan), lopinavir-ritonavir (Kaletra), amprenavir (Agenerase), nelfinavir (Viracept), ritonavir (Norvir), or saquinavir (Fortovase, Invirase); or
    · an HIV/ AIDS non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor such as delavirdine (Rescriptor), efavirenz (Sustiva), or nevirapine (Viramune).

    They do say you are not supposed to take St.Johns Wort while taking those antidepressants like Wellbutrin.
    I dunno.
    Id guess its one of those things they say just because they feel like they should and it is a legal necessity.
    But,
    I guess I wouldnt mess around and experiment anyways.

    No, no, no, no, and no. Anything that increases the serotonin in your brain - SAM-E, St. John's Wort- shouldn't be combined with pharmaceutical antidepressants. If you wanted to, you could check with you doctor about it, but do not start any supplements without doing so. Good luck to you.

    wellbutrin for adhd? hmmmmmmm..... i was prescribed this like 4/5 yrs ago for depression and had to be approved by my primary physician because it also is/was used to treat nicotine withdrawal (or something with quitting smoking) and isn't covered by insurance if that's the reason for the presc.....

    oh! the many uses.

    wow that was no help at all. i'm sorry.

    I thought it was odd to because I tried it breifly for depression a few years back. But it's an off-label use. It works really well. I tried simulants before and didn't like who I was on them.

    I got some kava kava to help me sleep and for before tests and took one yesterday and it worked great. It was a little strong so I think I am going to get it in liquid form so I can take less.

    shit, you shouldn't be using welbutrin at all. it almost killed me, is banned in over 30 countries and a possible side effect (which i experienced myself) is an (huge) increase in anxiety attacks.

    seems to me like you won't need to worry about anxiety if you get off that crap

    You know what? I am really agitated and get annoyed with people very easily. I have always been like that though. Never liked making small talk with strangers, am annoyed at slower people (unless they have a disability of course). I wonder in the wellbutrin is making that worse. I am thinking of taking adderall instead actually as I am still having trouble in school.

    welbutrin made me extremely agitated. as in i hardly ever got agitated before i took it and then everything annoyed the fuck out of me after a couple days of being on that stuff. that and it caused muchos pain in my kidneys, kept me up for weeks after i got off the stuff (i was on it it for maybe two weeks), and i havent been able to fall asleep easily since i got off the stuff... and that was back in october.
