Protesting the Iraq war by Thomas Ivan Dahlheimer Islam is often judged by its militant extremists. But most of us do not judge Christianity by its militant extremists. Conservative evangelicals have been some of the most outspoken advocates of the unprovoked and unjust war on Iraq, apparently hoping to prepare the way for the second coming of Jesus Christ by harassing Middle East Muslims so that they initiate Armageddon. President Bush has acknowledged that Iraq did not have WMDs, nor ties with Al Qaida. And the intelligence agencies were unanimous in their evaluations and statements that Iraq had no interest in attacking us. Bush is a conservative evangelical and his war on Iraq is not "pre-emptive." It is a war crime, a violation of international law, a crime against humanity, and a war that seems to fit in perfectly with many conservative evangelicals end-time doctrine. Are conservative evangelicals trying to provoke Muslims to fulfill their end-time prophecies by initiating Armageddon? Nowhere in scripture does Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, instruct believers to wage war in the Middle East in order to hasten the second coming. Will believers be "left behind" for instigating and/or continuing to support the brutal and unjust war on Iraq?
The Iraq war was a BIG mistake. I never saw inconclusive evidence of Saddam Hussein green lighting anything, where's the proof? Yeah, that's right, there is none. And, to the drones that say "they broke this many UN resolutions" well, even so, it would be the UN's right to go in, not the USA. So, if a nation violates UN redolutions, that gives the right for the US to invade a soverign nation? If Iran were violating UN resolutions, would the international community allow Iraq to invade Iran based on that? No, and they wouldn't be seen as liberators, either lol. Iran and North Korea openly say that they have or are developing nuclear weapons, yet Bush invades Iraq, a nation that denied having any type of WMD.
Saddam was paying the suicide bombers to blow up little Jewish kids in pizza parlors. The Bath Party was originated by the Nazi's and they felt killing Jews is the way to heaven. If you do not know about Saddam's terrorist connections please google "Abu Nidal". I am not saying the Republicans are blameless, the Reagan admin gave Saddam chemical weapons, but Clinton Bombed Iraq and bombed hospitals and TV stations in the Bosnian conflict. The American protest movement needs to be consistent and protest the Democrats when they kill too. I protested Reagan in the 80's and when Clinto was bombing there was only 10 people in the street, not 10,000 A.N.S.W.E.R is the puppet of the Democrats and they will not be seen when we get a Dem President in 2008
I'm a Libertarian, I think both parties have their own vices. Anyway, by your thinking, why don't we also go into Iran? Why not North Korea? Why not Syria? It isn't our duty to protect Israel, it is the UN's duty to keep the peace, to resolve international problems, and the only duty of America is to protect it's own citizenry. Are you saying that it's better today, civil war, hundreds of bloody tortured bodies being left on the streets everyday, and American troops in the way, is this the solution? Bush is an idiot for not using his brain in regards of Iraq, he was quick to invade a soverign nation. It is America's duty to protect American citizens, it was Saddam Hussein's duty to protect Iraqi citizens, and it's the UN's duty to solve international disputes, not for the USA to invade soverign states if it doesn't go their way in the UN.
Well i think it was bad mistake to go Iraq with guns... You americans never learn that... But i have to say that Saddam was a thread because he was killing people in his own country... So the man should somehow get out of power... But guns and war... That was bad really bad mistake... I would say revolution should be builded by iraq people and every other country should be helping these "revolutionaries" like giving them money and protection...
