Your more brave then I am, I'd be afraid of getting frost bite. Although Ive hiked barefoot when the ground was cold, but not freezing. More power to you!
holy moly!! i've been barefoot in the snow ONCE! that was enough for me.. had to jump into the lake to warm my feet up i'm jealous
Boogabooh, ONCE is never enough! I bet it won't be so bad the second or third times, keep doin' it. Be careful about jumping into frozen lakes though... brrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Thanks for the compliments on my toe rings Barefoot Kid, wouldn't be caught without! :sunglasse
HI Blackend, good to see you back on board. I was wondering if you'd gone shod on us. I was in Utah for the holidays and had a chance to do some urban barefooting around SLC, no snow in the city but plenty in the mountains. It's fun and I'm glad I'm not the only one on the board that enjoys snowfooting. I would have thought you had snow by now. We got our first snowfall in Nov. and I couldn't wait to get out there in it. Those that think it's too cold need to give it a real try and discover for them self how much fun it can be. I do it everyday and my limits keep expanding (longer and colder gets easier with more exposure) but it's not for everyone and you do need to be cautious. I look forward to more everyday. (cool photos) do you find the snow cleans the soles like nothing else, I do. Archie
All according to how long you do it for. Won't be very long, not even for me, and I'm probably as good at it as anyone gets. Well, I don't know, there must be people who can do it longer than I do. But it depends on how cold out side it is when you do it. Big difference between January and our brief sunny spring, most years! Can't do it when it's extremely, severly cold, but we haven't had any of that this year.
I also am very fond of snowfooting, but hardly get the chance so far. It's sometimes very cold in NL, but the only time there was some snow (very briefly, end December) I was not in the country... Nice pics though, makes me hesitate whether I want spring to break through or snow to come back!
aint nuthin more calmin n coolin (quite literally too ) when angered than snowfootin round...back when i was a wny yankee n when i had the flight instinct when angered i did it quite often,,, it chilled me out...then again i also worked in the barns barefoot most of the time much to the dismay of the bossman..
Yesterday, I walked barefoot in about an inch and a half of new snow for about 15 minutes. The temperature was about at freezing but the wind was calm. It was great.
that's what I'd need now, but no snow in sight here, lots of disgusting things to look after and "the man" is out of business too. i've got to spare some time for a short barefoot stroll in the woods one of these days (not that i wear shoes a lot, anyway ...). peace, friends, and freedom of sole.
