I used to live in Germany and made many trips to A-Town... used to Love it. This time bringing by other half with me...any advice from locals?:bigear: I would love to meet up with some of you guys, been here lurking for quite sometime now. Any advice would be appreciated.. BTW i have to stay away from the northern lights and diesel trucks this time as i get random tests here at my Job and i do not believe i will have enough time to study for them should i partake in said activities...so i am looking for alternatives. and i dont want to deal with the street scum Also i will be staying at the Hotel Vondel, hopefully they are friendly in there, if not i will need Hotel reccomendations elsewhere. One more thing, is there a travel agency somewhere close to the Vondel, im contemplating taking the wife somewhere special for valentines day (Paris) since she has never been to Europe, i figured she would get the most out of that as a Surprise for V-Day.... Thanks guys!
Anything as far as "Romantic" is concerned is great advice, also i am looking for a very laid back jazzy type coffe shop for the other half. We will definately hit up some of the breweries, and the museums, but not many have touched on what else there is to do during the day.. we are willing to venture outside the city if need be. I will be there for about 3 weeks, so i will need some good tips on what to do guys. Cheers!
during the day?? man, there's tons to do. 3 main museums--Van Gough, Stedlijk, Rijkmuseum Anne Frank House Jewish Historic Museum sex museum museum of weed (or seeds or something like that) Albert Cuypmarket pick up a city guide book and you will find tons of things coffee shoppes are open during the day too
open air market, they sell fresh foods and other types of stuff. Romantic stuff,go see a movie at the Tuchinski theatre in rembrandtplein, the theatre is a work of art and you can reserve a love couch which they will serve you food and wine while you watch. Coffeeshops i recommend Amnesia, its laid back, quiet and very cozy.
it's a great place to spend a few hours!! but, I just remembered, it was all closed when I was there this month...they're doing major construction in that area... maybe it will open again soon, though! It's a cool market area...lots of different vendors selling stuff, cheap!!
Thanks for the info guys, i have gotten into contact with a friend from Maastricht, so im sure he can give a little more info... Cheers
for romance: rent a houseboat in one of the canals. it's about the same price as a hotel depending on how large the houseboat is and how many people are staying with you
