I found an awesome pair of overalls today at the thrift store. When I first got there the lady told me they were getting ready to bring out some different jeans. I walked around the store and founs a dress while I waited and when I came back around the table was full of treasures to search through. I brought these home and put them directly in the washer, dryer, and then on me. I love finding cool stuff for cheap! Now I have to decide to either leave them plain or jazz 'em up. If only I had found two.
i love when people talk about stuff they find at thrift stores, makes me want to go out to one myself!
Thrift stores are quite cool.... I've a hard time finding some really good finds, because I'm picky, but it's awesome when it happens.
Yeah. there's a mental hospital near where I live, so there's alot of really unique stuff in there sometimes.
i found this awesome denim jacket in my thriftstore- had fake curly fur around the trim-so i decided to embroider all over it and sew on patches. looks quite decent actually!
I am thinking I'm going to keep an eye out for a couple of patches for my overalls. Congrats on the jacket.
I love thrift stores and vintage stores. It's the only shopping I like to do. Because it's like a huge treasure hunt for something you don't even know that you're looking for. I've always wanted to open a thrift store or vintage clothing store. I already have a collection of things that don't fit me, but had to have to sell someday...LOL Chicago has been a hot spot for me to find really good stuff...but I've also gone to vintage/thrift stores around here and have found great stuff...
All of this talk about great thrift store finds has made me want to go out and go on a hidden treasure hunt myself!
i love thrift stores too, and i agree it's like a treasure hunt! i've found some really amazing things at our local Thrift stores. i recently cleaned out a bin full of old patchy clothes, pouches, tams etc. Stuff that was left over from when i used to vend festivals. i gave it all to the goodwill, hoping someone else would come upon it and feel like they had found a treasure. DancerAnnie, where abouts in Michigan are you? i used to live outside Ann Arbor (loved Value Villiage!!), In Grand Rapids, and in Grand Haven. Lots of great thrift stores there. Here i pretty much just have the Goodwill. ~tree
Goodwill is pretty much the only thing around here too. I never find really good finds there. We used to have some pretty nice places around that you could really find some awesome things at, but they kinda just went away after a while.
*sigh* I'm a larger gal and can never find anything at thrift stores or Goodwill. Makes me really sad when people talk about finding cool things and I can't find anything *pout*
Aww rainbow, I'm sure there's some stuff out there for you. I have to tell you, I have looked for months at a time sometimes and not found anything. You just gotta stay with it. Good luck!
Thanx... it's just too small an area. No $ to travel and very little for clothes. I wish so much that we had a good thrift store around here. There was a thread on a group I belong to talking about wool sweaters and felting and wow!!! I'm so amazed what can be done with a simple sweater, washing machine, and some sewing. Blankets, bags, and more!!! The bags are amazing!!!
man...i love thrift stores. they make me happy.. i found a Sublime shirt from 1992 in my Salvation Army for 1.99 i was psyched!
Around here, all of the thrift stores are trying to be department stores. Stuff is sorted, tagged with prices, and it's all main stream stuff. What happened to the junk? And you should see the prices at Goodwill. must be to support the tv commercials!
I think I'll go to Vee Vee Boutique tomorrow afternoon (Value Village ) I work for Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Value Village is a partner so I get 50% off. Ha. It's amazing. Maybe I'll phone first and ask when all their new stuff is put up. Then I can go in and get the stuff no one has found yet. I once got a dashiki there for 5 bucks too - then I saw THE EXACT SAME one on "Pursuit of Happyness". That hippy who stole the X-Ray machine thing had a friend wearing it. I felt famous.
LMAO. that was quite refreshing. but yeah, i love thrifties. i found me a grateful dead baseball tee. it's got yellow sleeves and has the image of american beauty on the the front. it's gorgeous!!
i found a tee shirt that has "where the wild things are" on it with the pics of the monsters last summer at a thrift store. now its my favorite shirt because im dating this guy that looks like the yellow and orange striped one
I love thrift stores. I'm skinny so it's hard to find clothes sometimes, but everything seems to magically fit me. like your icon Lucy.
