    -start rant-
Im a born and raised canadian (ontario to be specific). Recently (2 years ago) I moved to southern california on a temporary basis for business reasons. And I must say.. Im totally shocked. Before coming here, I would bitch and complain about stupid little things regarding Canada. I always thought about how great it would be to live somewhere hot, with lots of beaches and cheap cigarettes.. And to be honest.. Moving here has been the biggest mistake I have ever made in my entire life. It's not the politics that shocked me, because I already knew about the corruption.. its the PEOPLE. Of course I can't say that all americans are like this since ive only been in one state.. But HOLY CRAP.. And im not exaggerating when I say that EVERYONE except for 1 person that ive met (and ive met alot of people) is extremely rude, arrogant and spoiled. . Trying to start a conversation about politics which doesn't involve talking about killing "towel heads" (as they call them) will get you nowhere. There's a good chance that you will get your ass kicked if you even show the slightest sympothy for Iraqis..Since they are "all terrorists". One day I was in a bar/restaurant and on the tv the news was on and they were talking about the amount of innocent deaths in iraq.. I shook my head in disgust and the guy next to me said "why are you shaking your head?", so I told him that I think its sad that so many people are dying over this.. Then he wanted to fight me because "I sympothise with terrorists" and I was kicked out of the bar. Racism is everywhere, on the news, on billboards.. even on bumper stickers. It's just so rediculous here, it makes me want to puke.. I CANT WAIT TO COME HOME.. I just want want to pay my $2,000 dollar medical bill I got from getting a splint (yup, you read that right.. $2,000 for a splint) and get the hell out of here..I swear, I will kiss the ground as soon as I get off that plane and be greatful for what I have.

    -endrant-

Ps: Sorry if the post seems to drag on, im just so fed up and cant wait to be home..

    yeah so-cal is pretty obnoxious,.
I just spent a huge leg in the states,
the scary part dude, is california is the most like canada in all the states....but even there its fucked!!!

I got back on the 1st and yes I did kiss the ground, the flags flying here....which before kinda bothered me that we would be so wierd about a piece of land....
well I think I looked at the flag in a new light...
    BUT
i was shocked as fuck when I started noticing the same stupid support our troops campaign HERE for CANADIAN troops....

since when did we ever stop supporting our troops, theve never done anything but keep peace....

the marijuana cafes are shut down in hamilton,
law enforcement has begun its own bastardizes version of the war on drugs....
this new government has begun the downward spiral ...

its good that you have seen what you have in the states, it might polaraze you when you return,
WE CAN NOT STAND AND LET OUR FREE COUNTRY TURN INTO ANOTHER STATE!!!!!!!!

sendin ya canadian good will brother......

just think man, soon, a pint of alexander kieths will be sitrting in front of you, yes you may bitch at frist for spending 6 bucks on a pint....but when you leave home and drunkenly stumble in traffic.....the hospital bill will be free!!!!

and no one will kick your ass for thinking...or saying that america is fucked!!!!!

    peace good journeys

Thanks for the great replies, it makes me feel at home :)

@ those who get frusterated and angry over the problems in canada, Just remember... You don't realize what you have until its gone! At the same time, we have to do everything in our power to prevent canada from turning into a racist police state and not let the "supposed" threat of terrorism brainwash us into losing our morals. I have seen it first hand and its not pretty!

It's definitley true. I went to Europe and the Middle East, and it's not the people or the politics that got to me, it was the poverty. People in Canada are sooo lucky. Even the homeless have shelters and churches and people who spend their time giving them bread. At least here in Victoria. Over there, it was families living in aluminum lean-to's under bridges with all their linens being washed in the brown river water and hung to dry on a dead tree that leans over the water. It looked like a scene from Africa on one of those "World Vision" commercials. It really makes you appreciate home.

    oh god that's funny.

My dad's friend lives in Vegas and he came here for the summer. He was positivly APPALLED at the price of our cigarettes and beer. He was broke after being here a week and a half .... maxed out his credit card on beer and smokes I think. I joked with him about the US being the land of "milk and honey" where beer and smokes are cheap .
