Ok....so i made a pipe outta clay (havent used it yet).....but i was wonderin before i used it will the clay creak from the heat??...i will get a picture up soon as possible
sounds killer man u need to get some pics up so we can see that thing and i noticed ur from kentucky lol that rules im glad to see some other hicks gettin on here lol
you really think i could?? i didnt know if you needed one of them special ovens for it r what.....any1 know bout 4 how long?? or how hot?? r anythin?
when i was little my mom got me clay for christmas and you could bake it in your oven, i dont know if it'll work for the clay you used but you could try it. I would say 450 degrees and do it for dunno maybe an hour. Id keep checking it every 20 minutes or so to how its doing.
hah my oven dont go up 2 3000....but it will 450....so i think imma try that...if this works and i make another then ill try the fire thing....ill have a picture of it up 2morrow (b4 fired)...
thats a nice bowl on that... enjoy! i dont think the conventional oven would work though... i looked around a bit, and it depends on what kind of clay you're using and how hot your oven can get. i dont think you can do it with any conventional oven. if it's a porcelain/earthenware clay, then you need temperatures of 2000 F and above, and if its just earthenware (the type of clay with lowest firing temperature i think) is about 950 F and above. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthenware http://seco.glendale.edu/ceramics/clay.html but what the hell give it a shot, if it doesnt work check out the art room at your school and see if you can sneak it in there for a bit. that or make it part of a bigger piece of art just so it doesnt look like a pipe lol... good luck
it looks nice, but if you tried to fire it with the paitn hoping it will gloss up, it aint gonna work. you need to glaze it and put it in a kiln for like 14 hours
