Police and bad rep

I hate how people refer to police as "pigs" and how they think all police are bad. If we did not have law enforcement (police) then there would be rampant crimes (not just drug use or w/e but killings and robbery). They are here to protect the people. Just because they arrest you for something that is illegal (even if you think it shouldn't be illegal) doesn't mean they aren't good people. I know some asshole cops (who will pull you over for having you rmusic too loud) and many more great cops that do their job and don't go on power trips. I have a friend who is a cop and he is the nicest guy I know. They do their jobs and if they didn't then there would be much more crime. So lay the F off!

BudToker, I definitely agree. In my opinion, in general, any stereotyping is not good.

 

while i agree that stereotyping is not good and that some cops may be cool i am yet to meet one that doesnt fit most stereotypes

 

I have a cousin who lives out in LA, and he is a cop there...... he had done alot of undercover busts....... well , just recently, he had a stroke. so yeah, fighting crime takes its toll. and they arent all pigs. they are human beings.

 

and I have an uncle who is a cop, and he is almost 67 years old...... he needs to retire, but he keeps at it. he can hardly keep up with those kids anymore.

 

Man screw you, seriously. I hope they bust you. Maybe I should get my friend to get his giant Dirty Harry gun out and chase you down.

Funny story: He was pulling this guy over because the guy was weaving in and out of lanes (thought he was drunk, which he turned out to be). The guy jumped out of his car and started running. So my friend runs out and pulls out his huge, long barreled, revolver (like the gun Dirty Harry used) and chased after the guy. Once the guy saw his gun he froze and dropped to the ground in an instant and probablyl almost wet himself (I know I would have!). This gun is scary. He had to get a new special liscense to be able to carry it, even while on duty.

 

i have no problem with cops in general, on a person to person level, because i know no cops.

other than that, i think that a cop is a very un-respectable job. they are required to up hold laws weather they believe in them or not. personally, i think that is wrong to sell your self out like that. if perhaps, a cop does believe in all the laws he/she upholds, then i do have a problem with them on a personal level.

so basically i am not a fan of cops, as i don't believe in alot of the laws we have in place, drug related, and otherwise.

i feel the same way with criminal judges, and people in the military, they are un-respectable if they do not believe what they are doing, and if they do believe in what they are doing, than i am not a fan of them.

im glad they help people, but, i reserve my right to dislike cops and what they stand for.
not to mention, all the cops Ive ever been around, both male and female, have been jerks, and been very manipulative.

 

Its not that I don't like the job but every cop that I've met is a complete prick torwards me even when I had done nothing illegal.

 

obviously all cops are not assholes, but the exact ratio for me is 3 nice 15+ mean.

Um no not at all, I feel its better to be respectful to them and hopefully recieve the same treatment you show torwards them. He was just trying to be a hardass and yelled when there was no need to whatsoever

 

if u hate cops just cause they bust u for something like drugs then ur an idiot,people that just call pigs for the hell of it cause everyone else does it is also an idiot ..PEOPLE THAT RUN NAKED AT 20 degrees are also idiots..but really without cops this place would be in chaos and i respect them cause when ur in a tight spot they will be there for u SO SUCK IT UP,and they take bullets from hard criminals just to make u safer

I don't like stereotyping, but I hate cops. HATE>lack of.

If I see a cop I think "I wonder what the fuck they are doing to infringe on someone's rights" I've almost never been wrong in thinking that. You could say that I'm doing the same thing that whites did to blacks before civil rights, but you are wrong because the cop stereotype is about 99.99% true. They are doing their job yes, but their job shouldn't exist in the first place. Cops are to protect the rich, I don't need cops, fire them all, put em on the streets and tell them to survive like I've done. Then they can get off their fucking power trip and become human.

Standing up for what you believe in is one thing. Standing up for what you're told to believe in is something completely different and I will never respect someone who won't think for themselves. I have no qualms with cops who will give you the benefit of the doubt or who won't fuck with you if you have done something which harms no-one else, not all cops are pricks. Sadly the majority are. Sure, society would be fucked without them but half of them who join up are bully boys & power craving pig-ignorant fuckwits and most of the other half become institutionalised and turn into the bully boy fuckwits anyway.

I'll treat every human being I encounter in my life with respect and if they don't show it back then fuck them. When I've had trouble with police it's always been because of my clothes or (the real troubles I've had have been because of) my political affiliations, if they can't understand and appreciate diversity then I have no time for them.

i agree that there are some nice police who are really cool. i've had some really good chats with a few of them, especially the younger ones who i can relate to more.
HOWEVER, i have come across many mean ones.
for example, a friend of mine was sitting with a few other teenagers outside sainsburys. they weren't doing anything wrong, no alcohol or cigarettes, they were just sitting around talking to each other. a big police van turns up and about 8 officers get out. they line up near the teenagers and one of them says, "we're going to wait here until you slip up justtt enough so we can beat you with our batons".
they also threatened to give my friend an ASBO on friday, even though she did nothing wrong. the only reason they let her go was because she had a panic attack. all she was waiting to meet a friend and happened to be near a bunch of teenagers smoking, which she explained to the police but they didn't understand. meh.

 

there are some really cool cops i know, but the majority of them around here are DICKS. but thats cause i live in a beach town that strives on tourism, so if the city looks like shit, along with the locals, then they have no problem giving them extra charges. there is one officer down at the beach who likes to partol down near my friends house because he wants to catch him at least once. he knows my friend smokes and drinks and all that, but has failed to catch him doing anything, yet he still lurks near his house. he was also my arresting officer over the summer, and he arrested me THE NEXT FUCKING DAY! and pinned me with other charges because i was with the people that did them later.

I"m sorry, but I as a pot smoking jew will ALWAYS have a fear and hate of the officers of the law. and no, even seeing super troopers didnt help me get over it. Some cops are great people and really cool, but like killswitchjd said, the number of power hungry, asshole, pigs will always outweigh the nice police officers. Usually we only call the power hungry, elitest douchbag cops "pigs". The nice ones we just call "officer"
