I believe you must trip or be crazy to reach the true hippy mindset. But to be a hippe is just a word you can were a tie die tshirt and be a hippe if you want to spread love and peace thats all cool better then being a goverment slave. But there are thing with drugs that a person not on drugs could never understand, feel, think, or be that make us more different then people not on them. So opresion is control and feedom is choice I chose yes.
I personaly do not use any drugs... you know... i think there is only one hippy rule- do as you like...do as you feel like to... that's the main thing. So I don't feel like doing drugs and i think there are many other who think this way..
I dont think ur necesarily not a hippie if u dont do drugs but i think hippies usually become hippies from things they learn while tripping and doing drugs
Of course you don't have to take drugs to be a hippie. Being a hippie is first and foremost about love, peace, free thinking. I mean sure, psychedelics have played a big role in hippie culture and have turned on many to a more "hip" frame of mind, but I think it's safe to say that a peace activist vegetarian who believes in free love and listens to the Beatles all day long is still a hippie even if he/she has never taken a drug.
it's all about feeling.. what ever you feel like doing, saying, using or taking you can do it. no room to judge. however you want to live your life is fine with your brothers and sisters. =]
not only no but hell no! if you vere to the "LEFT" of political correctness, that is what corporate media coined the term hippie to discredit. and if the shoe fits; WEAR IT PROUDLY! i damd sure do! =^^= .../\...
If one does drugs in order to "feel" like they are a hippy then, I would be of the opinion that they are very far from being hip, and very much a conformist. Oh, as well, in my opinion the question would be more accurate if, instead of "drugs", you had said "hallucinogenic drugs", and the reason for taking them was to induce an altered state of consciousness. But hallucinogens are not the only way to achieve an altered state, meditation, and sensory deprivation tanks, are two others that are, relativly safe. I have also entered into altered states by decidedly unpleasant, and dangerous routes, (not by choice), pain, and high fever. An argument I did not hear in the 60's and did not come across myself until the mid 80s while pursuing training in the art/discipline, of asking questions of nature, in a way that yeilds ever, less inaccurate answers, i.e. natural science, I would strongly assert, validates the decision to "go electric" on the part of those who, would of themselves, choose to do so. I forget the formal term offhand, for a long time I've been calling it the Steady State Vanishing Act First of all incase your haven't ever been presented with the information, the body is the finest example that we know of conservation and this extends to the nervous system as well. For example do you have a ring, a watch or underwear on? Do you constantly percieve their presence, no you don't things that do not change do not need attention so the nervous system ignores them, alter their position in the slightest and your suddenly fully aware of them again. You want to be fully aware of awareness? a product of the nervous system, well alter it, but do so responsibly, with respect, and discipline. Find the wonder of being an experiencing being, and dwell in it. Then share that wonder with another of the manifestations of the energy of which every one of the silent stars is also made. Live love, and become a human being, being fully human. sine cera
i dont think you need to do drugs to be a hippy the only problem i hav is that ive been automatically labeled as a drug atic since ive become a hippy
I was always known as a hippy at school and then since leaving...I have been known as "bohemian, unusual" etc Dont do drugs....they bore me.... I like love and sex and music and getting onto a dancefloor and headbanging without any booze or drugs inside me.... That is what I call freedom!
Me too...I used to always be out and getting my hands on anything... now I'm just not interested...been there, done that.
Sure, I have known hippies that did not use drugs, but that was decades ago...I think that you would have to be open to being buzzed occasionally to really fully appreciate the hippy experience these days.
why should you even be worrying about being labelled a hippie or not. other than that no, but shiiit marujuana opens up your mind so much.
