I already posted this on the chemistry section and got no replies, so I am moving it here.

Has any one tried this well posted method? It is basically a cold water extraction X 3 ( of 200 AC&Cs) followed by a reduction of the resultant 750 ml of extract by boiling down to 150 ml followed by another CWE , a further reduction to 50 ml , and a final CWE.

Chromic claims a yield of approximately 1.47 g of CP and an 85% reduction of the approximately 3 g of caffeine to around 450 mg. My concern is about the reduction by boiling the codeine /ASA solution with a pH of around 2.

The only thing I could find in the literature was an article on of all things discussiing heat treatment of urine samples (for HIV prevention) and the impact on drug testing the samples. The article concluded that 70* C caused no problems but at 100* C for 1-hour there was a 10% destruction of methadone at pH 7.6 and a little less than 20% destruction at a lower pH (i.e., 5.1)
