I burn a lot of incense. After they've burnt out, you're left with a small (1-5 inch) stick to throw away. But I didn't realise how pretty they were until I had a pile of about 40 of them(multi coloured) that had accumulated over the past couple months. It seems something creative could be done with them, like a necklace, or bracelet or something, but I don't know what, or how. I thought about making a necklace by gluing them together with a dot from a hot glue gun, but I don't think it would hold up nicely. Any suggestions? And has anyone else thought about this?

hm, dunno. I personally never thought to save up the incense stick ends, they've always gone into my composter.

Glue gun may be tricky, since the sticks are so fine and the glue comes out so thickly. Maybe with a thread, tie a knot at one end of the stick? Can be reinforced with a dab of craft glue.

Maybe you could get a small set of clippers to trim them to size and some glue and make small containers by gluing them on top of each other in the shape of triangles, squares, circles(hexagon shaped?) and what not. You should be able to adjust the taper of small bowls by shortening the length of the sticks.
It might work and would be really cool jar type things, hey, if you built one tall enough you could hold your incense in it!

if you have a cork square you can glue them on with not-so-hot glue, I forget what it's called but it's much stickier-lo temp my husband says, it makes a cool rustic sort of trivet. I used a tile square once, but it isn't rustic enough. he uses them for coasters under tea and they still smell sweet.

mine often become lighting sticks for candles: dip in wax when a candle is burning or just extinguished. Next time you light a match that needs to light sereral things, say three-four sticks of incense or multiple candles, use one match and the wax-coated sitcks.
