I have every respect for the plant, but have never tried Peyote. Not being hip, cool, or "in", the chances of my coming across it are near zero. Is there a country where it or this "san pedro" or closely related varieties are available legally? I had heard there was a bit of drug tourism going on in South America. Any ideas? Basically, Id like to experience it, and learn from it, but dont know how or where. Thank you.
san pedro and peruvian torche are available on the net, and legal in the US. if ur interested in touring SA for its native entheogens, u may want to consider joining a peyote group (there are several in Arizona and in New Mexico) since u wont need a passport to get their. and believe it or not the groups are typically open to new comers. if u truly respect peyote, im sure ud be welcomed. also theres some that have a website, Peyote Way is one of the top of my head (i remember seeing a cover article on Peyote Way in a native mag, so its a popular group among the culture) but if ur looking for the easiest way to obtain a cactus that has mescaline, order some peruvian torche online
Thanks for this. I appreciate it. I dont know if any organization would accept me; I have to admit fully that I dont have a spiritual bone in my entire body. I have a mind like a machine, Im only interested in the real-est and most demonstrable empirical truths. I understand reality is relative, but I also understand that if you are using a chemical to induce spirituality, it isnt truly a spiritual experience, its an induced effect. Youve thrown a monkey wrench into the machinery of your brain. So of course youll see and feel distortions--but they are caused by the chemical, not by reality, not by spirit or soul. So as you can see, a spiritual organization wouldnt have anything to do with me. I respect the plant as something to be protected from destruction, and not to be used as a whim or lark. I respect its power to effect my mind. Ive just started on this path, so technically Im just interested in the experience. Does "torche" give the same experience basically as peyote? Is it easy to use or do I need to follow some complex procedure to prepare and apply it to get the effects without poisoning myself? Thank you.
you really dont have to be that spiritual, im athiest and ive been asked if i wanted to attend a peyote ceremony... basicly with peyote/pedro/toche (the effective chemicle in mescaline) u just need to get it in ur stomach any way u can choke down, they smoke peyote too so u could probably smoke pedro and torche as well but i would eat/drink it for longer effects
By most accounts I've read, the Peyote experience is somewhat different from a pure mescaline experience, being that Peyote has a few other active alkaloids in it, that make it a bit different.
I thought that peyote's active ingredient was psilocybin. Mescaline and psilocybin are two different things arent they? I heard that mescaline is like LSD light, and that psilocybin was a better, more spiritual and communal sort of trip. Also, is san pedro and peruvian torche something that you consume and then get sick and throw up (prior to the effects) like magic mushrooms or is it a bit more user friendly? Very sorry. Did alot more research and study and answered all my own questions above, except a good quality website to order peruvian torch from. Also, could someone offer an idiots guide to a simple and straightforward method of ingestion. In other words: Take x amount of peruvian torch squares Boil in water 12 hours remove squares boil water down into green soup choke down x amount remaining in pan try not to puke as long as possible. Would really appreciate the info, different sources/people seem to say different things. Some say buy the powder off the net. consume x grams of powder. go trip. etc. thanks and again, sorry.

The most effective I've found for a meaningful trip was to mix the powder with lemon juice, let it sit for a day, and then drink it using shots. And my advice for the trip is to go outside. It's far more enlightening and enjoyable if you're in the woods somewhere on a beautiful day.
