...andI feel so helpless however she is taking it very well. He had pancreatic cancer, so we knew his time was short. What should I do? I already told her and her mother if tehre was anything I could do to let me know. I am there for her I keep telling her that over and over. But I feel like I should do something more to console her.

I will tell you the best thing to do Lake. Be there when she needs to talk to someone, and listen to her without saying anything that isnt useful for her to get over it. My cousins girlfriend just lost her dad to cancer and she is taking it well, and when she talks, I shut up and listen and be there for her, even though sometimes she goes on for like an hour at a time, like motor mouth. Just remember, we all die, death is the only gaurenteed thing in life that will always follow you and be there for you.

My mom died when I was 17. At first I wanted to be left alone...but I got over that and it was just nice for people to hang out and get my mind off of it...and just to LISTEN...

You don't have to DO anything, really...except be there and take her out and do things.

I concur. I always find it insenstive and rather aggitating when somebody will pretend to listen yet butt in with how they know how you're feeling and turn the attention to themselves with their sob stories. I highly advise not doing that.
Just be there for her. She may push you aside for awhile, but she'll probably end up wanting somebody to listen to her.

All you can do is remind her you are her friend, and you'll be there for her, im sorry to hear such bad news.
