i know its a terrible curse. i was handed a sweet forbidden fruit, got to taste it, enjoy it, grow to love it...then it was taken away from me. now i feel like i'm left in a void of where to go. but i have been discovering alot of old Phish that i'd had yet to hear....and oh my god....i heard a "Crosseyed and Painless>Antelope" run that was 37+ minutes and oh my god, the energy just didn't let up.....you could handle that shit on strong acid (Dazed and Confused).....it was brilliant. when i'm at other shows i have a good time.....and i let loose and groove and enjoy the live moment. but i just find listening to them on CD is kind of pointless......hopefully something will birth from the woodworks and show me that we can still have fun.

    thank you.

I have a Q for the folks having trouble finding life after Phish, what are you listening to and seeing now?

(and Cheese didn't want 70K festivals. They wanted to know the fans were there for each other as much as the band. I'm not sure it worked completely, but they meant well. I'd take Hornings, or Negril, or Akumal over a monster fest any day. Just an observation, from the sister who loves the small scenes.)

Still, there's something to be said for the 70K festivals -- that sense of impending energy , of vibrancy and a collective cause. If anyone here was at Oswego or Big Cypress or It, you'll know what I'm talking about. I felt like I was part of a vast, positive energy feed culminating in both the nights' sets and the after-concert shakedowns. Yes, there were the obnoxiously hedonistic frat boys and "Dose Me!" college hippies scattered about, but there were also a lot of good people and the feel-good vibe was like no other I've ever felt. Certainly not at a Rush show or anny other studio band gig I've been to where everything seems self-absorbed and introfocused.

I leave Coventry out because things were simply different there. The rain, the impending doom of the break-up, the traffic; it was an odd scene and really not comparable to any other Phestival (though "AC/DC Bag" on Saturday was absolutely beautiful).

I know most of us Phish-faithful should grow up and move on. I mean, after all, they were only a band and existed, in part, to give us a moment's pleasure and a vindication of identity. As someone in the Coventry crowd said right before the 3rd set on Sunday, "This is the first set of the rest of our lives." Yet i sincerely hope not. The whole was much larger than the parts could ever be and that's something, if Phish really is dissolved forever, that we'll never be able to get back We may look and look, but the doors we open will be on empty rooms and eventually we'll have to leave the house and accept the fact that it's abandoned and inexorably deteriorating.

That's why it's so hard to give up on them.

What am I listening to now, jam band-wise? Umphrey's, maybe. But mostly Phish who, despite their faults and latter-day sloppiness, transcend most other artists.

And I love them for that.

wow, i never knew that happened. thanks for the hopeful message about 2009 - thats my senior year and holy shit would that be a senior trip.

in my phantasy, trey will get sent to rehab, (not jail!). He will have to pay a ton of money, (which he has), then his community service will be to reunite with phish (therefore completing my life), all of the profits going to charity, naturally.

but lets take a moment to reflect on the tight tight grip trey and the boys have on our balls. its been several years now, and we're still like damn kids waiting for the candy shop doors to reopen.

ITS GOING TO HAPPEN! THINK POSITIVE THOUGHTS GUYS!!

    peace <33
