And I guess that no devotee of course could concievably be described as a robot....have you read the Gita? It makes no difference to the dreadful facts about ISKCON whether you hear it from a robot or a talking goldfish.
I see you added to your reply just as I was responding. But you know, everything isn't about those "11."
Yes I have read the Gita. What has been your involvement with the Hare Krishnas? I have been in or around the movement for 15 or more years. At this point I don't think there is anything "dreadful" you could tell me that I have not already heard.
We've been through all this on this forum before. I can't really be bothered to detail all the abuses that took place in ISKCON after SP's departure - I'm sure you know about the criminal activities, child abuse, etc etc. Currently, as I'm sure you are aware, there is the ongoing conflict between ISKCON and those who seek to introduce the 'ritvik' system. Meantime, the ISKCON gurus continue to regularly fall down. As to my involvement - any serious involvement ended back in the 80's when I met Bhagavan Gurudev - one of the 11, who impressed me as an egotistical moron, and later absconded with his secretary and a pile of ISKCON cash. Sp, the so called 'pure devotee' evidently lacked enough insight into his followers to see that they were basically corrupt and devoid of any real spirituality. I have a number of friends who were followers of Tirthapada - the guru who got into lsd and was eventually murdered by a mentally disturbed follower. Some persist with their own version of Krishna Conscousness. None impresses me as having gained much from it, even after 20 odd years. I also have reason to suspect that UK devotees are involved in heroin smuggling. But above all, I just think the philosophy is plain wrong.
BBB, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I don't believe the philosophy is wrong and you won't convince me otherwise, nor will I convince you.
BlackBillBlake, you say: "Sp, the so called 'pure devotee' evidently lacked enough insight into his followers to see that they were basically corrupt and devoid of any real spirituality." Srila Prabhupada actually said something to the effect, referring to the leaders, that "None of them are strong men, they are rascals." (The exact quote is on another computer somewhere.) Not all were like that though, but those who made themselves dictator-like leaders obviously were (are?). The way things unfolded after Prabhupada's departure were not as he instructed. I just hate to see Srila Prabhupada being put down...
