i was having a convo. with my dad and he said that when you start smoking , then the less you need to get high. i always thought that you built up a tolerance and the more you smoked the more you need to get high. which one is it?

i found it was both... at first, when i started smoking, it would take less and less every time... i think that might be because i was learning to smoke, or maybe its biological. but after a while that ends

its just like alcohol, the more/more often u use the substance, the more of a resistance ur body builds to it.

Maybe it's been too long for you old-time tokers to remember the details, but I only started with weed pretty recently. I managed to get high the first time, but that was with 3 bowls getting passed between 5 people. At the point I'm at now, I can stick a few leaves from the shake at the bottom of the bag into my pipe and get an appreciable reaction. It's definitely a lot easier than my first few times.

i've noticed a mental tolerance to the effects after daily use. It doesn't take more to get "high", but the effects are easier to handle, less in some cases, and It doesn't last as long. I've never been the type to smoke a blunt to tha dome and say that I'm not high, I dunno how you could get like that other than smoking an elbow a day or just lying to yourself.

Ive noticed this happen too, i think its becuz thc builds up in your system and when you smoke again it just releases some of it, the more you smoke the more thc in your system

I don't get to smoke that often, but I've noticed that when I do, I can start feeling the high after only 1 or 2 hits from a pipe. I seem to be getting less tolerant....which is great o_O

I dont believe in reverse tolerance for weed. the ones who didnt get high their first few times probably just didnt inhale correctly or didnt smoke a sufficient ammount to get them high...

Me too. I think it has something to do with the medication I've started recently. But after 1 hit I can feel it, when usually it would take 5+. I've also started slowing down my sessions though, so there's the chance that I'm just being more observant.

I wonder...if you have a fast metabolism, does that mean the weed gets in your system faster? Because my metabolism woke up recently and I think that might be a factor.

I think at 1st in practice it might be less, as you learn how to take bigger hits and hold them in longer, but in reality marijuana doesn't make a reverse toleraence.

there is such thing as reverse tolerance. look it up in the clinical handbook of psychotropic drugs or any book about the mechanisms of drug action.

My tolerance is too high now. Its shit. I'm going to take a break. I cant get stoned off a few joints being passed round a lot of people. I need it like me and one other person to get alrightly high, even then a joint wont get me high, just on the way. Its fucking irritating

Yes there is, but marijuana isn't one of the drugs that has it, though I do believe salvia does.

I've noticed that when I don't smoke for like 2 months I need at least 2gs to get high, the next day I need like 2 tokes, thats reverse tolerance. BUT after a few weeks of smoking every day the effects dull (this is permafry) you are pretty high all the time, but get used to it so you dont even realize it. I just went through a burnout, it took 1 week of not smoking for me to come down, it was crazy.
But ya, reverse tolerance, then you slightly build up a tolerance, so put in 5-7 days between seshs if you want to get REALLY wasted.

marijuana does indeed exhibit "reverse tolerance" in (some) humans. it's thought to be caused through some combination of learning (enhanced recognition of drug's symptoms) and biological (altered enzyme efficiency, neural adaptation, etc) factors.

i don't think this phenomenon is fully understood yet. but to say that salvia "has" reverse tolerance while marijuana does not is probably incorrect.

edit: this page has some decent stuff to say. no doubt there is plenty more out there, but i don't feel like searching for it.

actually. over time your body gets more intolerent of it because you have receptors for thc in your body. if you smoke the same amount everynight over time you will get higher. but! your body is getting used to the high so it feels like your getting more tolerant, but your just getting acclamated to deh high

the reason you get tolerant to alcohol is because its a poison and your body is trying to reject it.
