I was watching a program on history channel about jim jones and the peoples temple in jonestown guyana....... that guy was severely messed up...... and why do people feel the need to latch onto weird evangalists?? and would you allow your children to be drugged and then drink the koolaid yourself???? IM not the type of person to ever have any person control me....... even if they drugged me, I couldnt force myself to die. doing a bit more research on the jonestown massacre , though, it sounds as if the cia had a bit involvement in that, to get rid of the congressman ryan from california, he was an outspoken advocate against the cia.....
Do some research on brain washing. It will tell you how it happened. No one know what was happening to them at the time.
"allow your children to be drugged"? You kidding? The parents gave the poison to their kids, no allowing, but -choosing- to administer the poison. It stems from our need to belong. Most of the followers were on the edges of society, unwelcome and unwanted in most other groups. Jim Jones made them feel special, unique, wanted, desired, needed and above all, important. If you've never felt that from anyone in your life, of course you'll latch on to it. And once you're in, every little step from there gets easier. It's not like they met JJ one day and drank koolaid the next, it was all done in little tiny steps, each seemed well intentioned or not scary at first but they added up to a big ball of bad.
well there were alot of dissenters in the group, and there were those that didnt want to take the poison..... some were forced, and others just decided to go as well because they just saw all the children die. most of the children were given a shot. and they died first. would you want to be alive after watching young kids die?? alot of them not wanting a shot????? plus jim jones told them that the congressman was dead and it wouldnt be before too long for the cia to come in and raid the place, so they would probably die anyways, or end up in prison....... not all went willingly.
Just do research on brain washing it will explain the whole thing and give a better understanding of what happened. If you don't remember a similar thing happened not that long ago in Waco Texas. Also all the people that killed themselves in CA because it was going the be the end of the world when a comment passed. Charles Manson did it and had people killed.
indeed. and Im not saying that brainwashing doesnt work. it does. have you heard of the cult in the andean mountains in chile?? I think the guys name was "schaeffer" or something like that........ he was german, and had a liking for little kids...... he was exiled from germany, but started a cult in the andean mountains. he tortured, drugged and gave shock therapy to many of his group....... they even performed shock therapy on little girls' vaginas to keep them from developing into a woman. he believed that women were evil and tempted men to committ sins. he also forbid anyone from having sex........ even the married couples. but then he molested the little kids....... the guy was messed up. he was finally arrested in 2005.
Ya, people like that are messed up. I wrote a paper in college about the Peoples Temple church that Jim Jones started. It was different thats for sure. Then Jonestowns was just fucked up.
there was no where to run in the jungles of guyana....... plus, anyone who did try to run away, they threw down in a well, especially the kids who didnt listen....... and they were malnurished too! rice and beans, thats it! and all the drugs they had to take....... valium and other things.....
