Well I think it's a pretty tight CD and I agree, I do think hip hop is dead.

all that shitty crunk southern music isnt real rap.

I WILL PERSONALLY CHALLENGE ANY SOUTHERN RAPPER TO A RAP BATTLE

I AM 100% SERIOUS BECAUSE I KNOW I WILL WIN AGAINST ANY OF THESE DUMBASS WANNABES

Ok "Lil Jon" let's see you "OKAY HUH WHAT" your way out of this!

    But please discuss this CD...

I haven't heard it yet, but I agree with you that the title is an apt description of the current scene... I'm old school, man...This new stuff sucks ass.

Hip Hop radio is a part of the problem.

Most of these commercial Hip Hop station's playlist are too narrow when it comes to what types of rap music they play.

I think all of these stations should at least have an hour or two on certain nights for music that's considered non-mainstream so listeners can get exposed to more of what's out there.

Don't be ignorant. I live in Louisiana, and just like there are underground MCs every where else, there are underground MCs in the south, and no Truth Universal (which is from my city) will smash you. And no, Hip-Hop isn't dead, it's only dead to people who don't know where real Hip-Hop lives and thrives, and if the place is in your heart then it never dies. And if you listen to the last song on the album, "Hope" you'll understand the moral of the album. Matter of fact, Lil' Wayne might smash you. I can most likely smash you. And I guess you forgot about OutKast.

That's the problem with radio in general, its narrow acceptance cone. They'd rather go the cookie cutter route. It's easier and doesn't rock their boat. Otherwise, they'd have to deal with other types of music.

The few talentless groups that are getting an easy ride on the corporate radio networks would be forced to live up to higher musical standards and actually start working. Neither the groups nor the radio industrry want to do that. They can keep it up indefinately as long as the general public is naive enough to buy what they are told to buy.

    That's the truth.

Hip Hop is definitely dead. but in the eyes of the mainstream. but to the pure hip hop heads, it's not. i like the album, can't wait til someone remix's the whole thing cus i definitely think the beats could be better. but than again, it fits everything still and still a great album and concept.

It s just a question of time... for every music style the wheel turn... when the first generation and important wave of rappers will be old or grandpa... rap will anymore reprezent the youth... but some old heads of the system will be ancient rappers as well... it s what happened to rock n roll... in 10 years time rap will just be another way to do money ... now you can hear it more and more in TV commercials (a bad sign)... when something has a lot of success... there s always a lot of fake people to join the movement...not because they reallly feel it... but because they just want to follow others...it s the fear to be lonely and not original... it s seems to be a question of fashion

It's starting to seem to lose a little momentum but , surley thta's a good thing in the long run, media and producers, artists really ran it into the ground with all the b.s. songs coming about in the last few years, it's what's happening to this whole indie thing to though, it seemed like music was getting good again, but that scene's getting run down quick to, so where's the band wagon headid next? peace.

still alot of hip hop that's alive. indie or mainstream. people just aren't exposed to it. never will it be COMPLETELY dead to the people who live and breathe it.

When people talk about Hip Hop we should keep in mind that there is more to Hip Hop than just rap. Hip Hop is broader than just rap. Rap is just one of several elements of Hip Hop like the various dance styles, graffiti and djing.

Did anyone buy the December issue of the Source magazine?

They have an interview with Dres of that early 90's group Black Sheep. He touched on the difference in rap today in comaparison to back when he was comming up. He says that back then rappers got their record deals because they sounded different from everyone else. Nowdays you get your deal because you sound like someone who's already popular. Just goes to show how things have changed.

I think rap may actually get back to that time when you got your deal because you were different. Rap sales have been declining lately and it may be becasue there's too much of the samethings out there as far as image and subject matter etc. Labels will eventually start looking for rappers who are different again because of these slumpimg sales.

sorry to say but I totally agree with that! I mean maybe I'm just a yankee or something but I think almost all the southern rap I hear is trash....shoulda just left the rapping to us where it originated..

Anyway about Nas.. Its a good album. then again pretty much anything by Nas is pretty good. and hip hop is pretty dead. Im glad someone finally said it! Its getting to be a bit of a disgrace.

Funny you say that because whenever I watch Showtime At The Apollo, which is in Harlem NY, and whenever they have a crunk artist on most of the crowd seems to be into the music. All the girls got up when Dem Franchize Boyz appeared on there.

The state of hip-hop can be discussed till the end of time. but frankly i think hip-hop will be alright, it is a new music form and is changing.
