"WalletTest.com" http://www.wallettest.com/ Webmaster deliberately drops 100 wallets in front of hidden cameras to test honesty.
100 people is an awfully small sample to making judgements about approx half the worlds population from.
Surely we must trust these results and admit that they confirmed all of our fears of black men... (If you don't see the huge pool of sarcasm dripping from the above comment, I don't know what to say to you...) This is ridiculous. First, yes, it is an excessively small sample size. Second, it's only $2!!! Who cares about $2? Yeah, there was also a $50 gift certificate -- did anyone try to cash that in? There was no actual ID card, no credit cards, etc. -- nothing of any major value. I would be far less likely to bother returning something if I doubt the person is really even going to miss it. I would be far more likely to drop it off at the nearest business or something, where it would be protected from thiefs and where the person who lost it can find it if they actually care (instead of me going out of my way to contact them). On the other hand, if there was anything of any real value, I'd feel more compelled to contact the person. And their testing criteria: So, if you turn the wallet in to a local lost & found (whether that is an official place at an amusement park or just turning it in to a manager at the nearest business), you get counted as having stolen the item. Say you even hand it over to a cop -- if that cop chucks it into lost & found without calling the person, you're counted as a thief. This site is worthless, as their methodology is significantly flawed.
I happen to know the webmaster - how should it have been done so that it would have been flawed? Please give an example of a 'fair' test.
hmm. that was interesting. i'm surprised the number of dudes and chicks was so close. i don't think that's a very accurate way of testing anything like that, but the results were still interesting.
I don't think that test shows who is honest. I think it shows who needs money the most. Who would be more honest if you went around asking people their weights?
