I'm sure that Iran is a nice country.

I'll say it again: I hate propaganda!
The rich countrys make tha smaller countrys look like shit.
I gues that Kazahstan don't looks like in the Borat movie, and I guess that lots of people have the wrong picture of Macedonia too.

i think a lot of people, such as myself, think of each country with an open mind. I do place any generalizations cause they are not based in reality and I have no reason to.

Iran is a beautiful country. The people of Iran of wonderful. Neither of these have anything to do with, or deny the fact that Iran is run by a fanatic, has supported terrorism for decades, has strong Islamic extremist underlyings, and is currently developing a nuclear weapons program. The point of you posting these pictures is???

Did you notice how reactionary Iran became after another fanatic with strong Christian extremist underlyings invaded its neighbor? It's much the same as how reactionary the U.S. became after 911. This is an illness that spreads when people don't stop and think and do irrational things based on emotions in response to a threat or a perceived threat on their country.

The US is run by a fanatic, and has more nuclear weapons than all other countries put together. The US wouldn't care diddly shit about whether Iran had nuclear weapons if it didn't have one of the world's largest oil reserves, as does Iraq.

You have a quote in your sig by Omar Bradley. However, Bradley didn't go around invading other countries because they 'might' do something to someone. He did not practice 'pre-emptive' warfare, and at the time didn't work for a country that practiced it either. Unfortunately, that's all changed.

iran is not without SOME problems, but the're not the sort that trying to solve them with a military invasion would be any different then trying to perform brain surgery with a 20lb mallet.

surgical military ops are bullshit, grunts arn't trained to cops, or diplomats, nor does military command structure make it possible for them to be if they wanted to.

even iraq, and even under the sanctions that were in place against it unders sadam, looked more or less like a normal everyday place, with people going about their everyday lives WITHOUT going arround killing each other like is going on there now, UNTIL the u.s. military invaded and decimated its infrastructure.

you can of course stop a man or a nation from doing ANYTHING at all by killing him, but you can't rationaly expect, if someone wants to do something harmful, that your going to make them want to do something bennifical instead by doing something harmful to them.

the rest of the world does NOT owe america its oil, or its any damd thing else.
and if we don't stop having a forign policy that acts like it does, we just might succeed in uniting everyone, agains us!

of course this isn't far from what pseudo conservatism really wants. anything to scare people into beleiving themselves dependent for their protection on it. that's why they keep comming up with all this war on this that and the other, ever since they lost russia, and "communism", as a believably threatining "dear enimy".

Well, to be fair, Russia has more nukes than the U.S.

I myself am planning to go on a Mid East trip, Turkey, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt ( in that order ).

The Mid East is free of political correctness, and if it's anything like a few of my friends tell me, there won't be any freaks or bums on the streets, ahhhhh, can't wait.

Plenty of Persians live in the US so they are not exactly mysterious.

They share the same aspirations that we all do, peace, freedom, persuit of happiness and material gain.

Tis a shame that Iran's theocratic oligarchy is frustrating these aspirations,
    They deserve free elections.

Like I had posted earlier, they are wonderful people. I think most Americans would be shocked at home similar they are to themselves. As you mention, it really is sad to see people from these countries oppressed by their government. Really makes you appreciate growing up in the civilized countries that most of us have (Europe, US). You see the simple things that these people desire, seeing their children live happy lives, better than they have. Why should they not be entitled to this? Truly sad. What I personally find excrutiating is when people who know nothing about what has been accomplished in Afghanistan can find nothing good to say. If they were to see first hand even the smallest improvements to those lives, and know that they were responsible, they would be satisfied knowing they changed sombodys life for the better. (Ranting, needed to say it though)
