My post on the New World Translation was just something I pulled out of JW publications. I am only stating what they believe. I am not arguing weather it is right or wrong. As I said before, I have my own beliefs.
This is exactly why JWs are often considered a 'cult' in that the belief system is hidden behind several layers of indoctrination. JWs would help their own cause to just make it clear up front in a 'Creed' that they reject Jesus as part of a Trinity. Make it clear they believe he is the Archangel Micheal and a created being. Be up front and say that they do not believe in owning Cats. Honestly, its really annoying at best and is likely to get you more 'cult' accusations at worst.
Uhmmm.... wait..... are you being serious about the cat thing??? Thats and uneducated remark, if your not kidding. Every religion is different. Not to sound cliche, but, to each they're own. They are not a cult. It is just another organized religion. I hope some of my insight was helpful. HASTA!
It was thank you. Oh and yes they can own a cat my neighbor has one, now it does live out side but it was well provided for and he was never disbaned from the JWs Church. I have a hard time with the jesus is the archangel thing couldn't swallow thet. But I went to Catholic schools and attended a southern Baptist church when I was younger. I also attended a Luthern school for 6th and 7th grade. So I guess I have a understanding of these religions a little. I have my own beliefs so if I end up in hell so be it by my own default. I just really wanted to understand his choice and see if maybe he did join for a personal reason do to his life style or really just for his ex-father-in-law's who is also his boss happiness and respect for him.
Ikdenkhetniet is just some kind of religious troll this person has no understanding of humanity and knows very little about christianity Ikdenkhetniet is a troll just ignore them basically two christians arguing from the perspective of two cults from within that tradition is like watching a vampire having a go at frankensteins monster - its unimaginably funny but at the same time - doncha wish christianity would fuck off and die?
And that is a good example of just why JWs are questioned for 'cult like' mentality and let me point it out; Its what you wont say. Even when we come down to the very direct question about the nature of God, Jesus as a created Archangel and you will go to the 'anything else' rather than acknowledge it. State upfront that you believe Jesus is a created being and a high Archangel. Just be upfront. State that you do not accept the Trinity. Well, in this case you did by process of elimination but I think its more helpful and less 'suspicious' to be upfront. Not something you have to find out after several levels of indoctrination. The whole 'cat' thing is intended to be humourous (mostly) and its from this webpage: http://www.jwfiles.com/ex-jw-humor1.htm
You say admirable, I say sick. For any child excited about that, I’d say the sickness was nearly terminal. Ask any typical Iranian 3 year old child what they think of a Jew and they’ll be really excited to tell you how they are all evil pigs and dogs. Just because kids are excited about their brainwashed propaganda doesn’t mean it’s a good thing, quite the opposite. It has many forms and degrees of ignorance but it’s all the same sickness, religious fanaticism. Instead of trying to make this planet better, they forsake it and waste their entire life battling for a place in line to imaginary paradise no matter what the cost to the environment or other people. Because they believe and devote their lives to heaven, this real world is disposable. How many small children in this world are excited about renewable energy and preserving environments and natural resources? Religious priorities are FUCKED and it’s nothing at all to admire.
Perhaps being "excited about renewable energy and preserving environments and natural resources" is your own "brainwashed propoganda"? Have you considered that? I would say that ANY fanaticism is unhealthy, being fanatical about the environment is just as bad as religious fanaticism because fanatics cease to be rational. They don't just follow a non-rational idea, they lose the ability to be rational in every-day interactions with non-fanatics. That is a problem.
First of all excited and fanatical are two different things and secondly it’s a lot better to be fanatical about solid and logically positive actions such as preserving our environment for the long term benefit of mankind than selfishly dwelling on paradise while letting the world around you fall apart because you are subconsciously fulfilling ignorant old pre-medieval apocalyptical prophecies created for waging wars on other religions.
Agreed. I was make two separate points. You were talking about kids being brainwashed instead of being environmentally active. I was pointing out that it is possible that being "environmentally friendly" is as "brainwashed" as some religious positions. So spiking a tree so that some logger will kill himself when he tries to cut through it is morally *better* than blowing up the same logger for being a non"whatever religion"?
Lets not forget it was you who first suggested excited environmentalist childeren should be extremists. Way to go off topic but anyway even the enviro-exrtemists would have a lot of catching up to do if they were to compair to religious extremists. There emotional acts of insanity and hate outnumber enviro's by a good few hundred million, if not by billions. Your not compairing apples and oranges here, your compairing an apple seed to the sate of Florida!!
Irrelevant, and you are still confusing the points. I don't think that children should be fanatical, just that if you indoctrinate them with "environmentalist propaganda", that is just as much "brainwashing" as indoctrinating them in a religious belief structure. So it is a numbers game? Environmental fanatics (and I note that you moved from "fanatic" to "extremist") kill fewer people so they are morally *better* that religious fanatics? That's a dangerous line of thinking. Fanaticism is bad, be it religious or environmental. Numbers don't have anything to do with it. As you said though, it is off topic, so I'll drop it.
It's not that bad. They just wan their kids to love God and do God's will. Really.Stop making it sound worse than it really is.
The Wathtowers Bible, the New world Translation has been condemed by Bible scholars around the world. It is not really a translation at all, but a perversion of the orginal text. They have actually removed verses that they donot agree with, and they have especially chopped up all the verses that speak of the three and one God. They have literally changed thousands of verses, and if you do just a little homework, you will find this is true. I'M SORRY, BUT I DID MY HOMEWORK, AND I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. I use to invite Watchtower people into my house, and often when I would point out some of the mistakes in their own New World Translation, they would get very angery. The WatchTower tells its people that in order to live forever you have to work for only their orgnization. They donot believe in salvation by grace, but rather by works. The Watchtower spent years giving dates when the world would end, and after so many failed dates they finally gave up on that. They will tell you that's not true, but if you read their own papers of the past, you will find that is the truth. There is so much to say about this one group, it would be hard to know where to begin. From refusing blood transfusions to failed prophecies, to missing verses, it just goes on, and on, and on.
