I would rather not eat things with pesticides...do you knwo what that shit does to your body?

And besides, I like to know what I am eating...which is why I also thing we should label GMO foods.

never shopped at off the "wal-mart" in my life. though i have patronized target and k-mart, and the old wolworth's back in the day.

i do favor REAL organic. but don't trust anything in the store that is five times overpriced on the excuse of saying organic on it. depends on the store of course.
off the wall mart is run by a bunch of christer fanatics so just consider the source.
like AOL, or any company that has america or american in its corporate name either.

diseconomies of scale exist so that the few can stab a fat hog in the ass at the expense of the many, however sexy their trojan horse.

cheep clothes you can get second hand at the trift store.
mervins has good prices on first quality,
and there's places, like ross, with perfectly wearable new 'seconds'.

for teck and toys, well for just about anything you have to buy, i always favor, and recomend doing so, mom and pop opperations, especialy hippy mom and pop opperations.

not that all of them are universaly honest either, but, the franchising of everything, like the privatization of infrastructure, is contributing directly to the screwing of everything up.

So your saying I should be pure to live for as long as I can? What happens then? If I live longer than nature intended I would be in an old peoples home being turned daily to prevent bed sores.. Quality not quantity.

and where precisely did i say that?
quality not quantity indeed. or quality and quantity in this case.

if you wan't to die young that's fine.

but do you really want to be half assed sick all the time until you do?

I don't know 121, but I don't think you really want to put any extra estrogen in your body. This can lower your sperm count and affect your sexual appetite negatively...

In fact, there was a study by the USGS that found fish in New England having characteristics of both sexes, which is actually caused by the mixture of pesticides in the environment.

And not to mention the fact that pesticides are believed to cause a lot of learning disabilities, hyperactivity, emotional disorders, weakened immune systems, and birth defects.

I haven't shopped at Walmart since this summer, when my cousin took me there to get wedding crap.

And I don't eat organic foods, they're always way more expensive hereabouts than regular ones (if you can even find 'em at our local grocery)

But, I had always wondered how long it would take for a corp to mislabel that stuff, as you can charge a fair bit more for organic foods vs non-organic.

IDk, I thought pesticides kill plants. Why eat pure food when the atmoshpere is full of pollution anyway? We are still taking in impurities by breathing without even eating anything.

I work at a food co-op and the prices for organic food are pretty comparable...I mean, of course they are a bit more expensive...but I'd rather eat food that is going to be good for my body than eat crap that will make me sick or weaken my immune system in the least....it's worth it to me.

It's a really difficult process to be USDA certified organic...if they wouldn't make it so difficult (and so expensive!), then the prices would be much lower. After all, organic farms don't put that expensive petroleum based pesticide on their produce....natural is cheaper...but it's that certification that seems to be the problem.

pesticides kill plants? Those are called HERBICIDES... Pesticides kill PESTS.

And since we're all going to die anyway, why don't we all just kill ourselves?

Thats the thing though DancerAnnie. They even say that BBQ's can trigger cancer. It seems that everything is bad for you in excess.

They say that beer affects your sexual appetite negatively but I still wake up with a huge boner every morning. IDK, maybe I should eat rabbit food but at heart I'm a carnivore. I'm a smoker too so maybe I shouldn't even be posting in your thread. I've got loads of steak in my freezer and I plan to cook that with king prawns and Char Su pork in an awesome special chow mein.

I could always just eat lentils and celery..

ignorance may be bliss, but i sort of doubt it with a tummy ache.
there is such a thing as doing one's homework
and there's too damd much that's funked up by too few people doing so.

it's not a question of impurities, everything is mixtures by the time you come in contact with it,
it's the balance of everything that's being shifted adversely, precisely by the ignorance of putting trying to impress each other ahead of the avoidance of screwing up what we all have to live in.

121 seems to be saying we might as well kill ourselves because we might stub our toe, but simply looking where we are going takes too much effort?

Not only will it decrease your sexual appitite and your sperm count, but the loss of testosterone will result in hypogonadism (I laughed too...insert laugh here), which will make you lose skeletal muscle and bone mass. It's just not a good thing, in general...and I don't know why you'd WANT to put that in your body.

And this isn't about "rabbit food"...in fact, maybe you shouldn't worry about pesticides if you don't eat many veggies...instead, you'll have to worry about eating cloned meat....which is the next thing to be approved by the FDA. (I wish I was kidding.)

And the thing is...if the FDA wants to put this shit on the market (cloned meat, pesticide laden foods, GMO foods), that's fine...but label it correctly, so people like me have a choice on what they want to eat.

I'm messing with you Dancer Annie [IMG]

I'm planning on quitting the junk very soon. I've spoke to vegetarians and the've told me that I'll feel hungry following their diet because I'm used to heavy meals. Maybe I need to find a vegetarian girlfriend to share the diet with. IDK, just a thought...

Anyways, back on topic folks :&

It is on topic...and lots of people will ask those questions for real...;)

You'll feel a million times better if you eat healthy organic produce and grains...it takes some getting used to, but it's worth it...
