Well i had my physical and my mom wanted the docs to check out my liver by taking some blood tests. She wanted this because im HepC positive. Before this day i never really thought of my disease because it didnt effect my life in anyway. Well, i got the results back and my liver is doing very very bad compared to previous years. I believe its from smoking so much weed, my liver just cant filter it. My mom knows i blaze and hates me doing it(im taking a long break from smoking). Well, she reminded me that ive had hepC for almost 16 years now, so its very important to eat healthy and to not do anything that would hurt me in anyway. Now she didnt tell me this, but its obvious, if my liver get worse, theres a big chance i could devolope fatal infections or get liver damage and die. Ive been thinking about this lately and im getting depressed. This really really sucks. I want to die of old age knowing ive done more good for the world then bad. Doesnt look like ill make it.

My opinion of life and death is don't fear death or you will never enjoy your life... If you live every day as much as possible then you can die in your 20's having lived more than a 100 year old who never had fun a day of their life.

Well that's coming from someone who lives for high speed motor vehicles and has already cheated death 4 times with one near death experience (not joking). And the craziest stuff is still to come... I take a lot of risks in my life and if I knew I was dying tomorrow I would tell the grim reaper to go fuck himself, and laugh at all the old miserable suckers in the world that never really lived.

If I live to middle age I'll have so many crazy stories to tell my kids if I have any... I'll have life experiences that most people don't... The most important part is having no regrets or 'what if's' because they will eat you up inside.

As for living to die of old age, go to an old folks home or geriatric ward of a hospital, look around and visit with them, and then see if you still want to live to be really old...
    It might change your mind.

Life is not what you are born as or into, but what you do with what you've got. Everyone has obstacles and handicaps to overcome (myself included for sure) and those obstacles are what separate the fighters from the quitters. Fighters go on to do great things and change the world, and quitters die anonymous in the shadows.

If you have the time go pick up a book called "The Zen of Living and Dying: A Practical and Spiritual Guide" by Philip Kapleau. It will change your whole opinion of life and death for sure :)

Either way I hope things turn out well for you :)

Ive had it since birth. The doctor told my mom it was a 1 and a million chance that a baby could inherit hep from there mom. My mom got it from blood transfusions from a fatal accident.

Very, very interesting. Whenever i have thoughts like these, i tuen to my boy ghandi for help:

"Men often become what they believe themselves to be. If I believe I cannot do something, it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe I can, then I acquire the ability to do it even if I didn't have it in the beginning.”

Smokindude, that blows and I'm sorry you were given this burden in life, but smoking weed has no effect on your liver. I know 2 people with hepc who are almost in their 50's that have smoked virtually everyday for the past 30 years.

Yeah, marijuana and your liver have nothing to do with each other at all.

Take charge of your health. Have your mom contact a dietitian and work with him or her. Be very careful about taking OTC drugs... some are hard of the liver. Avoid alcohol like the plague.

Thinking of shit does no good if it's just going to depress you... use the mental energy to do research and educate yourself on how to manage the disease. Don't leave it up to others.

Have you ever tried any mushrooms, or herbs like milk thistle, & dandelion for this?

You may or may not be a candidate, but there is a percentage whose bodies kick the virus out. One way they treat it is with interferon, your body can produce that naturally.
While being born with it is no doubt a horrible legacy. I would not wholly listen to doctors or anything negative.
I wish you a better future, in any way that's possible.

My dad has hepc too, hes getting on interferon and he has a 70-80% chance of kicking this disease. I dont know my geneotype so i cant get a percentage of my chances, but im going to look into it in the future.

Good for Dad, I truly hope he makes it.
The herbs are to keep your liver clean, & healthier. The mushrooms can help you produce interferon, I know shiitake is one of them.
It's a step in the right direction..I know it's hard, but try not to let this keep you from enjoying as much of your better times as possible.

    *hugs*
