I am a single parent and looking for a "kid-friendly" commune. We are willing to relocate anywhere. I would love to be able for us to move every year or two and experience different communes. I am a birth and postpartum doula, and am currently in college getting my BA in Psychology. My long term goal is to join the Peace Corps. Our short term goal is to experience life to the fullest and to learn about different cultures and different languages. If anyone knows of any communes open to a mom & kid, please let me know! Peace!
I looked at Eastwind's website but they don't describe how they live. Is it cohousing, how much does it cost to get a house? Their website just didn't have enough information even though it looked really good...
I don't know of any, but I've been looking too. I'm also a single mom (my son is 2) with a BA in psych (although it has not yet helped me figure myself out). I'm in Ohio, and there sure aren't any good communes out this way. A lot on the West Coast, it seems. Well, if you find a good one please let me know. My son Beanie and I will join you!
That's funny...I am a senior at ASU getting my BA in Psych. Small world! I am in AZ & I just can't deal with the desert anymore. I need green!!! I will definately let you know what I find!

Hey.. just wanted to say that if you're in the Peace Corps, you can't take your kid with you. Bummer but it's true. Anyway, good luck finding a commune!
i've been thinking of taking my daughter to live in a commune but been unsure. we are still with her daddy and one reason haven't left is because i don't know where to go! we have little money and a lot of debt! and animals...can anyone help or offer advice?
