All righty then... I for one am jealous! Glad to hear you're lovin' life and tokin' it up. If and when you get a chance, let us know what's hot and not for the smokeables you've been comin' across. If not, just continue to enjoy yourself and smoke one for me. Rock ON
we mightve seen each other, if you say 3 roughly 18-20 year old males standing up smoking a bong (there was no seating available) that was me and my friends lol. for 30 euros the hash wasnt stellar but it was defiantely good stuff. i got the reclining buddha, pretty good for the price.
Tried the Greenhouse's NY Diesel. nice smoke. Great place... I got some NL-15 from NEs coffee shop, just off the Dam...very nice smoke. This town is just so great!
I'm not sure! THat place gets so crowded now. I saw a queue that lasted for at least 10 minutes to buy weed. If a coffee shoppe has that long a queue, they gotta be doing something right.
Thanks for takin' the time Bongish. Nice to hear that you're in full on "Amsterdam Mode". Surely thinking of ya having the world by the balls about now. Damn fine feeling that is too. Drop another toke report when/if ya get the time and smoke somethin' good for the "unfortunate ones" back here at home.
wow, well...sorry I haven't "reported" recently. I'm home now, got in last night and wow-I'm still recovering. so--here's a list of the weed I smoked: Dampkring Bubble Gum--nice smoke, weakest weed I had. something Buddha (maybe smiling Buddha??)--better than the Gum, didn't knock me out, though. Greenhouse NYC Diesel--very nice. Good and strong, big hitter. Kadinsky AK-47--best smoke of this trip. Nes NL-5 Very nice smoke, enjoyable! Other coffee shops I visited, but did not buy weed from: AnyDay Atlantis, near Albert Cuypstraat. Blues Brothers, on the Newiendijk. Doors, Spuistraat Pink Floyd, Haarlemerstraat several others, who's names or locations are severley hazy My Report: First of all, coffee shops are not on the rise, they are closing if anything. Many of the larger shops (Dampkring, Greenhouse) are buying up the smaller ones. For example, Blue Velvet (an old favorite hang of mine on Haarlemerstraat) is now owned by Greenhouse, as of last week, while Dampkring owns Tweede Kamer and Dutch Flowers (I think). On top of all of that, as of April 1st, there will be NO ALCOHOL served in any coffee shoppe. Which to me is a big drag. I don't always like to drink a big .5 litre of beer when I smoke, but sometimes, a beer and a smoke is soooooo good. Wave bye bye to that. The idea is that they are restricting or closing shops, not the other way around. I saw a list on the internet that showed a lot of closings, including "Smokey's" on the Rembrantplein. Although, when I passed it the other day it looked open. So, I don't know--I didn't get a chance to go in. Bottom line: Amsterdam is as great as ever with those few exceptions. January is good to visit because there are very few tourists. Good rates on hotel (I stayed at the RHO, very nice and clean for 80 E/night. Right off of Dam Square across the street from the Karponolosokoskoy--or however you spell it), the red light district is slower moving, but still lots going on , the museums are EMPTY. The only drawback--and this is a big one--is the weather. Especially this week, there was a massive storm and the wind made it very difficult to see the city. I spent most of that day in my hotel room . But, those kind of storms are highly unusual, the rain is more common, and there was plenty of rain. I'm still detoxing on how much weed I smoked in 4 days. I plan not to smoke for a while now that I'm home. Body needs a rest--you dig?
Very nice report mi amigo! Thanks for takin' the time. It sounds like you had a blast. But it also sounds like Amsterdam is changing for the worse in reference to the CS closings and buy-outs. Not to mention the weather... It is January though. All the more reason to make as many trips as possible, no matter what the season, to enjoy what "we" like-minded folks enjoy while it lasts. What a drag though. Thanks God for smoker friendly bars such as The Waterhole and Excalibur. It'll be interesting and possibly depressing to see which way certain Coffeeshops currently offering both alcohol and tokeables go come April 01st. Arrrggghhh!
you're welcome Yes, I did have a blast--how can you not in that place???!! One thing, as long as the coffee shoppes stay open (and I don't think they're closing anytime soon, although they are changing) is the weed is good--very good. and what better way to be than to walk into a shoppe and simply purchase some marijuana? None that I can find!
And another thing-- I'm a huge Dampkring fan. Always my first shoppe to visit everytime I go.. But, I gotta say, looking back on this trip, I think it is becoming a bit too crowded. I know how rediculous that may sound, but the queue for weed at times was 10 minutes or more... and..they only serve small beers, I like to buy the big beers. It's their way of making more money, selling more beer...I didn't like that. After April 1st, that point is moot anyway. But, the hang is so good, I met some really cool people there. One was a couple from Manchester who were on a weekend getaway. Always cool folks hanging there! But, I wasn't as tied to DampKring this time, and I may not be in the future. I'll probably still make it my first stop tee hee :jester:
