My foot got stepped on in the subway going up the stairs in open-toed dress shoes during the holiday season (teach me to dress up!) and my second toe in got all purple and swollen and hurt like crazy. Now the nail is like, funny looking. the color isn't right, it's got a big weird scabby patch beneath the nail, and still hurts a little. Is my toenail gonna fall off? If so will it grow back? and how long does something like that take? I don't want to sound vain but going around all summer in my birks with no toenail?Ewww. anything I can do for it to help it heal, or is it just a lost cause?

Aww sounds sucky. Did the person who stepped on it apologize?
Yeah, it will probably fall off :( I've had the same thing happen to my fingernail. Someone stepped on it while I was helping them try on boots when I was working in a shoe store. LoL. It fell off, but not before a new one started growing underneath. And surprisingly, it didn't look as bad as I thought it would... lots of the bruising and stuff will go away.
I hope your toe feels better soon!

thanks for the info and the concern. the person who stepped on it never even knew they did it, it was just really busy and crowded. I'd like to think if they knew they'd be sorry, I know I would. thanks

Lol I've also had that happen to my fingernail...only mine got slammed in a car trunk after a baseball game when I was younger.

I forget how long it took to grow back. It took at least a few days to fall off, then probly over a month to fully grow back depending on how fast your nails grow...which also depends on how much sulfur and silicon you have in your body....

It wasnt too distracting and very few people actually noticed it ;P unless I pointed it out to them. It should be back by summer depending on where you live...
