Anyone planning to go/been to a Riders on the Storm show? For those that aren't aware its The Doors minus Densmore(and Morrison obviously). I went to a show last Sunday and it was pretty cool, Ray and Robby are surprisingly good at jamming, and they're both really cool. Ray acknowledged us as the 'Spokane Stoners' and at one point in the show said that he was high and he didn't know what he was doing. It was funny. Ian Astbury's voice was very scratchy and squeaky when he tried to sing quietly, he said he had a cold and he didn't drink enough water and that he'd done four shows in a row, but I think he was just a little too stoned to be singing. Anyways, check it out if you get the chance, it was pretty sweet.
I saw them when they were still The Doors of the 21st century, right before they had to change their name, and I must say it was a pretty damn good show.
I never even knew there was such a thing. I thought they had pretty much called it quits. Do they still write their own stuff and everything? Put out CDs? Might have to check that out...
I saw them at the Strange Days Festival last summer, it was fucking amazing. along with The Doors of the 21st Century, there was also Steppenwolf, Vanilla Fudge, and the Yardbirds. Vanilla Fudge actually gave The Doors a run for their money, they were fucking incredible.
i just got the song riders on the storm on my phone. You know theyve always had legal disputes and stuff but they finally released some songs. its at m30.ca/movs/i5-.The_Doors.mov if youre interesetd
i'm going to Riders on the Storm concert on 13th January 2007 here in Portugal. I guess they're celebrating they're 30th aniversary
what the hell?? how have I not heard about this? Is there a website where I can check all this out at?
I saw them last summer, and God were they good! It was the Strange Days tour, playing with (I shit you not!) Vanilla Fudge, Steppenwolf, and The Yardbirds!!! Mind you, this was the first time Vanilla Fudge had toured since the late 60's/early 70's, and Pat Traverse (sp) on top of that! great show!
