A lot of people on here have been wondering about wether a draft is comming. Myself included and I've also read that most people are saying no to it BUT the thing is I don't read about hardly anyone saying there going to do something about it. well my friends I'm drawing the line in the sand on this one where do YOU stand? We need to put all our heads together and form a group to help organise a protest hopefully not just a protest but a message to the United States of Ameria the Hippies are not dead they thrive on this site and elsewhere. They need to be reminded of the impact the American public has to say. Tell everyone you know, and try for people you don't. Honestly, i'm tired of sitting at my computer desk and complaining and I think some of you are too. I'm asking the elder members who were young enough to remember what the 60's meant and give ideas to the next generation who need their help. Finally, my question is "Are we just going to be a nostalgic website that tries to hold on to the past or is this going to be something more?". The next move I leave up to you

You are totaly right Jack. I read the post "Are we doing anything", but I don t see many movements lately ( or for the last 15 years), maybe I m too young or blind to judge, but I think we need a LARGE something to change the Americas opinion.

well first if you want to help start at your school get your friends involved. if you get enough people to join you then you can start planning activities like a walk out or something else. Don't be afraid if the school threatens you because usually I think if a third of the school is absent then they have to cancel it. You could also pass out flyers, numorus other things you can look up. good luck

well there are movements agains 'the' 'war'. undoubtedly they'd swell in popular suppor if a draft were to actualy be brought on line. but the thing is. i think that proposal is pretty much dead these days. and only 30% approve of bushie and a full 70% of american people are saying these days the oppose killing people halfway arround the world for oil or profits or idiological dominance or anything else.

if you're not seeing this where you live. it's probably just where you live. i'm hearing about active opposition stuff of all kinds going on all the time.

of course you won't hear about it on corporate controlled media. media controlled by the same corporacratic interests that manipulated all this millitary crap into happining in the first place anyway, who appointed a texas dropout as their tame puppet capo.

but if you listen to, or visit the website, of democracy now, amy goodman's indipendent news organization, you'll see there's a LOT more going on then perhapse you are awaire of in your local area.

well I guess you've decided it to be a nostolgic website. Because this just droped like a stone. Glad to know people prefer talk rather than action especially on a forum called "protest". It's as bad as a pothead who lives up to the stereotype of being lazy or drain on society. Hope you people are happy.

hey!! dont drop it so fast.....

it took me two days to find your post, im sure there are others out there

I have been bitching about this same thing for some time now.
I believe that if it wasnt for this damned contraption called the internet that we already would be united and voicing out opinions., Instead of us sitting here on this site, lets get a plan together. Let's use this as a platform.

ps...I have a post in the Hippies section called "are you pissed?" look it up

Funny you should ask. I've been coming here on and off for over 6 years wondering the same thing. I get mixed replies of yawns, defensive replies, and just plain being ignored.

I think this is (primarily) a site for people to share news (usually mainstream) stories and then whine about it. Whenever a topic is posted pertaining to actual ACTIVISM (the get up off your lazy ass kind), it usually goes ignored. The years 2000 and 2001, this wasn't so much the case. There were actually so-called "revolutionaries" in here...and get this, respectable ones! Then the inside job of 9/11 happened and everything changed.

So to answer your question, I'd say nostalgia...but not even that. Rarely do I see reminicsences of the elder days on here. In fact this site needs a good dusting.

I at least thank you for your honesty but I was wondering more where individuals lye at such as yourself. would you like to form a group? not would they. if you still say nostolgic that's cool just wanted to clearify myself.

look, there are movements going on all the time if you would just open your hearts and minds to them. First of all, i see a lot of young people getting into the hippie scene. I see classic rock radio stations experiencing a hay day and that, inevitably, helps the hippie subculture. You see yuppies now who dress with a "boheimian flare," if you will.
There must be a primer before you paint your wall...
okay, that is to say that we will begin to see things rolling on a faster level soon. When you see this happening, you will know, and that is when you need to begin to act. The problem is that people forget to build their arsenal... ie- form solid opinions, try the things you need to try to get you there, have a cause and live well, get educated, etc. This way, when the time actually does come you will have the tools you need to recognize itand call for change.
Truly great people do this. like Dr. martin luther king. do you think that had he been born in a different time and place that it would've gone very differently? of course it would. Here's the thing, as maya angelou says of malcom x and dr. martin luther king, they were men who believed in something and they caught wind of it at the right time and it carried them away. timing is everything; as young people, we need to have a better view of this. More patience, but the knowledge that we can change things. You have to be willing to sacrafice a bit of yourself in order for this to happen. Change is constant, things will change....
How do you want it to end up????

    Peace and love

Well first I know it's happening because people are pissed myself included. You ask whats my goal, where will this is going to end up. maybe nowhere, maybe everywhere, who really knows. as of my goal I don't like goals. goals can get ruined.
what I have is an idea an idea that we can walk down the street and choose to because were not afraid of what might happen. Where we can go to the grocery store not worry that somebody in a booth is watching our every move then go to pay without the governments knowledge. where I can talk on the phone without going through india while bush listens in. I want to ruin my body if I feel like it. If I want to smoke in public I will, whether that be tobacco or marijuana. I want to live in a land that was great once A time when we could talk to our neighbors without wondering if the fathers a pedophile or the mothers doing meth or the kids in a gang.
We are so scared of each other we have to put medal detectors in schools, because some rich kid brings his dads guns in and tries to kill the other kids who make fun of him. we have to have a fingerprint on file at the bank to get a account god forbid you might of been there a few times enough for someone to trust you. Or how about when I have to buy a gas cap with a lock because gas was so high people were siphoning ,which is sucking gas out of a car, so they wouldn't have to pay the same price for milk as gas. I don't need a goal, we now the goal. the problem is no one wants to step outside for fear something bad might happen. Bad things happen all the time, we need to get this idea that we're the land of freedom..... no let me rephrase that this IS the land of freedom and it's time people took the responsibility to see that. don't let the gov. or the conservatives, or 9/11 stop what this country could do, hell what the world can do.
Did you know that most of the problems could be solved if we just took responsibility. Take the oil problem we have, easily solved by putting a sensor in the engine of a car so it can burn multiple fuels. The health care issue, get rid of insurance companies. Obesity, get out of your house and walk! Whoop, not beat, your kids ass once and a while. thats solve lots of problems, education, teen pregnancy, ADD ( which I think is caused by t.v) etc... however I'm not advocating total dictatorship of your kids but be real with them. Anyway my point being is we're so scared to do anything that we have a total breakdown of basic human and family structure.
I honestly think we need to revert to a similar structure we had in the early ages of man. when men mostly took care of his family by hunting food the mother took care of the kids the kids helped out the parents and the grandparents helped everyone. It may sound like old 1950's but that not what I'm saying. What I am saying however is that we need to revert to a simpler time. it's ok for the mom to goto work and everything else but what we have now is both parents have to work just to meet the bills, the kids are unsupervised/lonely so they act out according to there persona. the grandparent become ignored and helpless or take on the role of the parent.
As for where this will end up, I think it will end up the same way it always does. someone other than myself will take it to far and nothing will be accomplished. Not truly but for a simpler answer I say is and maybe you can fill this blank but a greater man than myself one said "we want to be free, free to do what we wanna do." that's what I want.
