an old relationship

    is there any way to completely get over someone that means the world to you?

    I don't think so.

    It's maybe not even a really great idea to COMPLETELY get over somebody who has meant the world to you - that might dishonor you and the person in question.

    Why not, as already mentioned, try transforming the feelings?

    I've been doing that with the feelings I had toward an old close friend - one who is not a friend now. It's been painful but it's also allowed me to honor my feelings rather than just try to push them away.

    We never really get to forget our past - it lives in our cells as well as in our memories. The fact is - getting over people is almost incompatible with being a compassionate human being - so - if you're a compassionate human being (I suppose you are) then "getting over completely" is not most likely an option.
