Namaste' all Ye Olden Hippies and Beautious Youth!
I am new here but looking forward to exploring this website when the doldrums of where we live AND winter's "cabin fever" drive me me batty! We have a hippie-dream home(sorta:it's 7 acres of ponderosa pines but doesn't garden well....) we love Very much! but my gosh we are surrounded by "hicks in the sticks" and it REALLY gets me down! I can see there are like-minded folks HERE I can "relax" and "be myself" with and so I'm pretty darn happy about that!!! I'm a "closet" writer who just first wrote on the internet last year about what I LOVE(rocks) and so there's other stuff I'd like to talk about too and this looks like a good place for that. My husband is a Viet Nam Veteran-For-PEACE and I need to see if there's a thread for that here too...it's a HARD time these days for soft-souled veteran men like him(sick unto death over today's children being sent to the same horrors....) Well, that's all for now and THANK YOU ALL for BEING HERE!!! - gemdragon-

Greetings ! Glad you are here. I hope to talk to you some more sometime. Did I read your post correctly ?...you like rocks ?! If that's the case then far out ! I love rocks as well. Have a degree in wildlife biology and did alot of extra study in geology. The story each and every rock has to tell is awsome ! Enjoy the forums and pm me sometime. Peace and Love !

Yeah Grandpa, Look at what I posted under the "pets" thread!!!! I'm having fun here already!
When I get the first picture of me up it'll be me in tie dye with a bulging sack of agates under my arm!!! he/he I was an Art major and Geology Minor in college which worked out 'cause I made a career out of sculpting clay! Arthritis put a damper on that so I sorta "retired" early but we hike around all summer picking up rocks now,so life is GOOD!
Blessings to all and thank you for the welcomes!!!

That's so cool that you majored in art ! I wanted to go to art school, but couldn't come up with the bread for that college....So I studied wildlife Bio instead. That college was within my "budget". I know what you mean about having a damper put on your art. I am a stone carver and used to do some really fine work...but it has taken its toll on my eyesight so I just do larger carving now. We're rather kindred spirits ! Peace and Love !

Heya gemdragon, you look like a happy girl !

I've been drawn to rocks since I remember. Had a collection of fossiles - back then they had no mineral shops like they have today - but boy I loved crystals and always looked out to find tiny ones in sandy places along the wayside. Was given a garnet over 40 years ago which became a permanent resident of my pocket for years. Today the garnet seems much smaller - not because it shrinked, but because my hand is bigger.

Over the years I gave back to earth most of the rocks. It was too much of a load ... and they as well wanted to move on.

I'm still living + working with crystals + value highly their being.

    Have a good day :)
