I could use some help from any/all music lovers. I am writing a teen comedy screenplay which takes place over the course of a summer. Every list I have seen on the internet for best summer songs include mostly older songs or songs that I would have already thought of.

I am looking for some songs, that to you, remind you of summer. All genres of music are fair game. I listen to music while I write and I would love to be able to listen to some music that has a "summer" feel to it, in the hope that it can inspire me or put me in a summer mood.

Please dont list these songs, I am already well aware of their summer ties

    1. Any Beach Boys song
    2. Boys of Summer - Don Henley or The Ataris
    3. Summer Lovin - John Travolta and Olivia Newton John
    4. Schools Out - Alice Cooper
    5. Summer in the City - The Lovin' Spoonful
    6. Summertime - DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith
    7. Wipeout - The Safaris
    8. Any surf music for that matter.
    9. Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
    10. Dancing in the Street - Martha and the Vandellas

As you can see, I am looking for more songs that have a feel of summer, not just those that mention "summer" or have "summer" in the title. I would appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks!

look at "island music" as well, including old reggae.
Iain Campbell Smith is a relatively new singer songwriter who was also using music as part of peacekeeping in the Solomon islands. He wrote a ditty for Radio Bougainville By that name, and it's a nice upbeat bit.

could "hot" also be a theme as compared to summer?
Or the New Jersey surfpunk music?

Keller Williams' "Breathe" has some island-tinged stuff.

Yeah as drumminmama said, there is stuff like reggae which has a summery feel. I'd also put roots/dub music in that category - bands like The Black Seeds, Fat Freddy's Drop, Kora...The Black Seeds have some definite summery songs like On The Sun...check them out at http://www.theblackseeds.com

For nice, cool summer spring days where the air smells great, I always listen to the Houses of the Holy album by Led Zeppelin. It's an album made to be listened to on days like that.
