Don't Like the Term "Hippie"

All that matters, is if you are hip or not. and thats strictly a matter of opinion.

 

i agree i am def. not hip and i am not sure that i would even consider myself a hippie ... as shannon hoon would say i cant be a hippie hippies dont hate people and i do

 

I'm not sure if hippies are allowed to label themselves as such. Wasn't it a term the media created to stereotype this group of Enlightened folk... i'd rather be called Human or something. "The True Humans"... sounds nice.

 

I dont call myself a hippie, and I dont like it when someone that doesnt know me call me a hipie. Usually, I use it as a term of endearment to all my brothers and sisters. Hehe, (loving yall skuzzy hippies). When someone asks me, I simply say Im a Rainbow Warrior.

I like the term "hippo" much better.

 

I'm called a stoner, rocker, and a joker about as much as I'm called a hippie. I say call me what you will, I yam what I yam........for thats I all I got!

I'm just a person. Labels are all bullshit. Hell, hippies didn't even come up with the term "hippie". It was created by the media, like "beatnick", and "punk".

 

I don't identify with hippy. These are just good forums.

 

Just Human will do I guess. I don't like the term hippie as well by the way, reminds me of hippo's indeed.
I don't see myself as a hippie by the way, but unfortunately I have a lot of matches with 'hippie's', so every now and then people call me one.

Most people who call themselves hippie don't really get the point.

I like the term "hippie". I guess if you mean you are looking for another,more descriptive terminology for people who are hip or function outside of the box.(mainstream America)

I often use the term "alternative" to describe the group of people you would find doing things outside the mainstream societies everyday reality. I am comfortable being labeled an "alternative". Hippie is nostalgic, but maybe no longer applicable to this modern day society.

 

Tsk, I think the term alternative sucks just as hard. Like the people who call you that are 'normal' and I'm not. Everyone's different anyway.

Alternative people can be boring too, I also know people who aren't 'alternative' and aren't boring neither. Don't generalize on the normal, they're a large group (or a very very little group maybe!).
