Alright heres my theory. Humans only use about 15% (I don't know what the exact figure is but hey) of their brains so I figure that the rest we either haven't figured out how to use it yet, or we don't realize how we're already using it. The second one is more fun to think about. Most people will not remember all of the dreams they have in a given night either. Hmmm there must be some connection here. I've also always thought that the leftover part of our brains has someting to do with ESP or telepathy. So my theory is that when we dream, and usually there are other people in our dreams, we are actually interacting with other people who are dreaming as well. So when your dreaming that you and your best friend are riding go carts through the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras while being chased by a rabid unicorn, that your friend is actually dreaming the same thing but the chances are slim that you both will remember the dream and talk about it with each other. So when you are dreaming basically you enter this dream world alternate reality where other dreamers are interacting with you. If we could harness the power of our leftover brains we would be able to control our actions in this state and possibly even control when we enter that state. Take all of this as seriously as you please.
Hi kwal30, I wanted to add some brain food here. It's like in dream we are tapping into a greater source where the brain is the receiver rather than the creator. The brain is kinda the alchemist's kitchen of thoughts. But we are spirit and not bound by time and space we might share another's dream of any time (and some might not even be dreamed yet), and it doesn't need to occur in the very same hour. Everything is connected beyond time ... and even as we walk alone each on their own unique individual trip, we are all part of all giving and receiving. It's all a dream (and to wake maybe is just to remember that we are infinite). So ... you think we should be able to control it ... well now imagine we already do and it's just a part we are not aware of yet (... and someone Is having fun here ) ... and maybe it's not just about the brain. Who knows ? And maybe we came here to be the power of spirit ... where the temporary self is the humble yet adventurous explorer, tapping into the greater dream of us all while putting forth his own experience to feed it without cease. Just rambling ... Much love
We used to talk about this all of the time on the ld4all forums, and if you do not know about Lucid Dreaming I recommend taking a quick look (it's all about being aware while you sleep and possibly controlling your dreams): http://www.ld4all.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dreaming Both me and my friend believe in a dreamworld where everyone goes to while they sleep, like a parallel universe kind of. We've tried Shared Dreaming (where two people meet up in a dream) before while Lucid but without success. =3 Hopefully we'll get there someday.
mine is that dreams are perhapse like a big internet mmo, one not limited to roll playing conflicts but encompassing all of what can be experienced in life. the client software, the part that in an mmo resides on your computer to interpret the data that is sent back and forth between your station and the host system, being of course, well in your own head so of course you see everything in terms of your own head's way of seeing them, so it's really like a kind of vr internet connection, to a psychic internet of sorts, where the tangably alive and those who were and those who will be and those and that which never were or will and all that you can immagine and all that others, even themselves unimmaginable to you can immagine all 'live' in a kind of parallel universe. i know that's starting to sound parilously close to like some kind of parallel reality, well call it a para-reality perhapse, but just be carful also to realize that real or not in some sense, it is NOT of course THIS reality. if you keep that in mind, it ought to be perfectly alright to accept that it might be a kind of parallel reality in ITS OWN context. at any rate, this is one of those things, where i don't believe anyone knows, or perhapse even can know, what are the limits if any of what it is or can be. there is a randomness generating factor, a bit of free wheeling as it were, that your mind/client program contributes to it, by which i mean this is only one of the contributing elements and not like the single over riding one either, just one of the many things involved in the dream experience. and there is that 'magical' interface of will as well. just as will in this waking life does not directly and immediately override the surrounding context of environment, so to in dreams, although there it may sometimes come startlingly closer to doing so. but will can only exercise its influence by fenesse rather then brute force, and that is where people run into the problem of not understanding that it can be present at all. just like trying to micro-manage a herd of cats simply don't work, where as deligating authority, well every awairness has its own will too, so you can never get exactly what you want when anyone else is involved at all, but you can get things done, sometimes desirable things in a more general sense by deligating and then you just have to leave up to consensus and consiquence how things work out. so too, in this vr of dreamworld, it is possibly to set objectives, but not to specify in detail the means of travelle from point a to point b. though you can ride in or on things or fly or walk or what have you, if doing that is itself the 'place' that you go do/invision going to. otherwise you 'teleport' from one 'place' to another. there are many analogies between dreaming and surfing the net. like all analogies, there is a point of reducio ad absurdum beyond which they break down, but i think this is a pretty good parallel way of describing how we experience our connectedness to the nontangable side of existence. =^^= .../\...
