well, are you? If you aren't you are not paying attention. Do you realize that tomorrow (Jan 10) Bushy is going to push for more troops (up to 20,000) to send off? FOR WHAT???? I am outraged.....are you? We, us younguns, need to be more proactive in our day to day lives. Were are the movements? Where are the revolutionaries??? Where are the visionaries of this rancid generation? Right now, I have such a disdain and unpleasant look on my generation(and younger). Why do we let ourselves fall into complacentcy? Why are we sitting around taking all the bullshit they are shoveling towards us? Meanwhile, Appel is coming out with a new $500 cell phone/iPod. In my opinion, our technology should be put towards other things. Who needs a superphone? I am just so pissed off......................................................are you?
Nothing I can do about it other than stare at my wall, so no reason to be pissed about it. If them politicians are not given enough bribe money, then they will stop it.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... If we pull out of Iraq now, we will be the cause of one bitch of a civil war. The Iraqis may have freedom, but the idea of it will never work unless freedom becomes a cultural thing, just as oppression has become a cultural thing. In order for this to happen successfully, some faction has to act as some kind of support for at least 30 years, so that the next generation isn't learning how to be free, but they are the minute they're born. The fact is, this war has been carried out horribly from the beginning. It wasn't necessary to begin with, but even when it was carried out, our government did it half-assed. Everyone's talking about pulling out troops, but don't you think it's a bit cowardly to shit all over the place and not clean up?
im not saying that we should just up and run...but for more people to die in this quagmire??? This war should never have begun in the first place, but since it has, there is a tremendous responsibility to somewhat correct what was wronged. Why is it that this nation feels like it knows whats best for the rest of the world?? Who's to say that our form of government is what's best for another nation? What's with this superiority complex? It's like the "western world's burden'.....a "white man's burden" of the 21st century. ps...there is ALREADY one bitch of a civil war going on over there
Uhhum... the country is already in a full blown civil war which is almost as bad as full blown super-aids.
you guys suck at responding to the actual body of a post. Yes I agree totaly that our generation jsut sits around and complains but doesnt do shit about it. Its been said before that our generation has the fuck it attitude which I think is really true. Atleast other generations stood up and did something. Not enough peoplein our generation care and do you know why? Because its not popular to care. Nobody on MTV or on the cover of Seventeen is advocating that anybody do anything, where as (yes I know its cliche to use the 60's as an example but its the only one that works) in the 60's it was the popular culture that was advocating that young people use their rights and do something. Its sad but true. American youth isn't doing anything because the majority of us either dont care, dont understand it, or support what our president is doing. For anybody to do anything somebody like Bam Margera has to do it first. Do you know how many asshole little pricks worship Bam? You get the idea
Yea, pulling out now would cause a GINORMOUS civil war that WE are responsible for. I'd like to see the end of the war, but....que sera sera. I can't be pissed about something I'm not working for the end of. Neither can you.
There is already a civil war. We are already the cause of it. We can't pull out. WWIII coming soon to a to a town near you.
Ha ha. I'm pissed, but in the English sense (not he American). Still, George Bush sucks. What sucks more is that when GWB can't get any more US troops, he will stary lobbying my country (Australia) for greater troop numbers.
nope....first they will re-instate the draft.....maybe that's what needs to happen for people to become proactive?? I dont want to see the draft happen, but perhaps then everyone will be pissed as they should be!
well, I vote, for starters. And try to rile people up by discussing these things on this forum, in my classes, wherever it is appropriate. Look, Im no community planner or activist....Im not planning vigils or marches. Those methods, to me, dont work. Until I figure out a way for me to express my ideas to those that I want to have hear them, Im going to try sparking some reactions. I am trying to make otherwise complacent induviduals more conscience of what is going on, how it is affecting them personally....im trying to get people to THINK. I cant go bang down the doors of Congress alone. What do you plan on doing? What kind of world do you want your baby to grow up in? besides, where else could I be pissy than on the whiners forum?
People are just apathetic, we aren't in imminent danger here so why care? If the draft is reinstated, thats when lazy assholes will get off their couches and bitch and moan about the war, because then they'd be involved and have something to lose.
How to end this mess?WE take a bunch of planes and ships to the area, tell all service people to get on and we bring them home.Forthwith.We apologize for meddling in their affairs, blowing up their country, killing their citizens,we put bush and his cronies on trial, investigate the rip-off contractors and tell the world we'll never do that shit again. And move the fuck on, in a civilized manner. You can't save face if your face looks like your ass.
Well, what do you think we should do, if giving up doesn't seem to be logical, but sending more troops in doesn't either? Even keeping the military where it's at isn't working all that well... What do you think should be done to "correct what was wronged"? Agreed. America seems to have always been like that...it's like, yeah, we broke out on our own a couple hundred years ago, so now EVERYONE has to do it the way we did it, and that's just what's gonna happen. Because we do what we want. Nice Kipling reference, by the way. Hmmm...this is true. Very true. But pulling out completely would intensify it, and probably prolong it. I don't know...maybe that was just stupid of me to say, but I still think it would be horrible for us to pull out now.
