I am absolutely in love with Macguire's books. I finished Wicked -The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, and now I'm on the sequel, "Son of a Witch". They cannot be put down!! He has actually made the witch, a character that has been the epitomy of evil and ugliness in fantasy, an incredible, empathetic heroine! You will love Elphaba (her real name), and you won't blame her for being just the least bit angry. You re-meet all of the character from 'The Wizard of Oz. I had to watch it as soon as I was done with the first book. Macguire's themes in his books is to tell fairytales from a new standpoint. The next is "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister", I heard it was great. BTW,WIcked is on Broadway now. I would LOVE to see that if it ever came to this place.
I actually just purchased in a set Wicked, Son Of A Witch, Mirror Mirror, and Confessions Of An Ugly Step-sister. All I ahve ehard were great reviews on Gregory Maguire and knew I ahd to give him a try. But ti's great to hear another good review back! I cannot wait to start! =)
I'm currently reading it because my friend is obsessed with it and he just went to see the show at the West End on Monday. I love the prologue, it makes the story easier to relate to.
Yeah, his writing is great. I was skeptical before I read, because it didn't seem much like my thing. I was so wrong though. Chancey, where did you get your set? I've only been able to find them one at a time.
