But, see, that doesn't work for everyone. If I enter my own information into that calculator, it tells me I need to consume more than 2700 calories/day in order to maintain my weight. In reality, I generally consume less than 1400 calories a day - on a normal day with my eating habits, I eat when I'm hungry and keep going until I'm not hungry. This is how much my body tells me to eat, and it doesn't amount to much. (But it's still plenty to maintain my life - it certainly doesn't qualify me as anorexic.) I put in that I am "moderately active" - I walk the dogs every day and do all the housework, and make sure to really exercise at least 3-4 times a week. None of this seems to budge my weight. I'm not diabetic (though I am insulin resistant, I account for that with my diet) I've never had and heart problems or anything, my whole family is big. People who were born in good shape, with good genes and a relatively healthy body always think it's so easy. But the sad truth is, it just doesn't always work that way!

don't bother. he won't listen at all. bigotry is universal. do what i did, start eating more. your body isn't going to let go of a single pound until it stops thinking your in a starvation mode. since i started eating a lot more, i'm losing weight, slowly but surely.

I know, I know.... It's just that this is how I've been eating for so long, it's hard to break these habits! I've been making a point lately of spreading my food consumption out throughout the day more. Usually I wouldn't even bother to eat anything 'till my partner gets home from work, but lately whether he's here or not I try to have some fruit or something for breakfast. It's hard because not only am I eating when I usually wouldn't (which tends to make me a little nauseous), but I feel like it's all I'm doing during the day. Taking more than one food break from work, I feel like a glutton! :)

it took me WEEKS to not feel sick when i ate. my blood sugar would go all wonky, my stomach hurt, all that. but i eventually got over it. i still can't eat fruit at breakfast, though, nor much the rest of the day. it's solid sugar so far as i'm concerned.

for all of the ppl offended or against the stupid labels:
    1. The labels are not going to offend no one by saying "go to gym fatty, or what a fat-ass". And if you still "feel" is the same, then you have bigger problems than being offended.

    2. I hate when ppl are quick to bash and critique something that is for your own good. Whats the worst that can happen? that ppl would ignore the labels.

    3. The labels are for obese ppl. There's nothing healthy or normal about obesity. It is a disease. Food can be very addictive.

    4. You can't label food, because theres no way to track how much is your intake, or your lifestyle. The only way to meassure it, is by the size of your jeans.

    5. I wish. I wish all of you that are against the labels, because they offend you, be as offended by Mc Ribs, Super sized orders to fit Godzilla's appetite and the amount of sugar, sodium and preservatives in processed foods.

    6. Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with curves and ppl with bigger shapes. That is completly natural. But Obesity is not a simple condition of eating too much. It is now recognized that obesity is a serious, chronic disease. No human condition — not race, religion, gender, ethnicity or disease state — compares to obesity in prevalence and prejudice, mortality and morbidity, sickness and stigma.

    7. Obese ppl offended by the labels, because they remind you you have a problem. Is just like addicts should feel when they see a sign of don't do drugs. And those signs are everywhere!

8.Shame on you. Critique what is bad for you. If you are not obese, you wont see those labels on your clothes. We have warnign signs everywhere, about alcohol, cigarettes, drugs... and the few ppl who pay attention to them and get better is good enough to have them, no matter how many alcoholic, smokers or addicts get offended.

I can keep going. But I am just going to wait to see who is going to prove me wrong. That the labels are just going to create low self-esteem. (if u are obese you have bigger problems that contribute to your low self-esteem, dont blame a label) And if you think the labels are useless... let time say that.

Another thing. The food and weight-loss industry is HUGE!!!

But if we as consumers opt for healthier options, we can change the industry to fit our demends, becasue at the end of the day, we are the ones PAYING!!!

But if we keep intoxicating ourselves with junk, processed, cheap food, thats what we are going to get.

all this pious prosing on about what we're supposedly doing to ourselves makes me insane. i managed to keep my excess weight off me for 13+ years and gained it bad during two 8 month long bed rests. i'll get it off again, slowly, but it'll get off and i'll be damned if i'm going to let someone like that cast accusation my direction.

    Meh, I'm overweight
but guess what, I KNOW IT
I don't need clothes telling me that I'm fat. If anything, that would push me to start buying used clothes far far more often. I wouldn't want to buy clothes that insult me, that's ridiculously stupid. What's next, we start advertising the sizes outside of the clothes so the rest of society can judge you by knowing the exact number you wear?

For fucks sake, there are a thousand and six other ways to promote healthier living than labels in clothes, if that's the real intent. Why do I have a funny feeling it's the start of a fat tax, tax companies that refuse to put these labels into their clothes, etc etc.

Y'know what would be a good move? Free gyms. Make more kinds of exercise free or at the least affordable. It'd do a shitload more than labels in clothes that people would just tear out at first sight anyways.

you know, i'd love to be able to exercise without being fucking harassed for it by strangers on the street. WTF is wrong with people? this is why i'd prefer a gym in my home, with cardio equipment and all that.

it would be a lot more convenient, but even if I could afford exercise equipment, I haven't got the room for it.

A 12 is no where near obese...especially when you are 5'9! My weight chart says I am supossed to be between 130-169 pounds. I am around 140-150-no where near what the medical community says is overweight. In addition I run 3 miles, almost every day NEVER overeat...can't remember the last time I have.

I can easily see woman or girls who are prone to eating disorders go off the edge of healthiness because they see a size 12 label that they have to buy to fit their tall frame.
And personally I am offended by super-size options and people who eat fast food animal by rpoducts and stuff themselves and their kids full of crap. The goverment should concentrate on not giving out corn subsidies to put high fructose corn syrup in all of our kids school lunches as oppossed to putting labels on clothing when they have no idea of the person's height or muscular build.
I have a friend who is 5'11, a part-time print model and wears a size 10...so the medical community would consider her one size away from obese? What about female swimmers who are bulky in their upper body...do they have to have a size 12 jacket with an obesity label put in it?

I just think that is ridiculous...there's a war going on, hormones and anti-biotics in our children's school lunch meat and milk that is causing early puberty and an increased risk of cancer, global warming that is making it 90 degrees where I live in Jan...but let's ignore all of that...let's create more work and slave labor opportunities for overseas clothing manufactorers by making those chinise and pakastaini women sew labels in my clothes telling me I am too fat. I am sure that won't be a slap in their face considering they are starving and making 10 cents an hour.

I see you have already drank from America's communal pitcher of Kool-Aide, congratulations. Now go get checked for cancer because that red-dye 44 you just drank, that is approved by your goverment just increased your liklihood of developing a brain tumor.

and by the way...there should be a warning label on that ridiculous leopard print bathing suit you are donning...please recognize that the 80's and hairbands have ceased...along with leopard print.
Perhaps the swimsuit should have come with a warning label that you are in desperate need to pick-up the next copy of vogue that you see.
    peace out

she's 21 in a leopard print bikini...I think lady might not be the correct term to use here.

she's only 21 KC...give her a few more years and some actual real life stressers...maybe a kid...see how she handles it and if she is saying the same thing and thinks she knows everything.

Some people like to nag others about good habits. Sometimes they can talk the government into doing it for them.

A ladder has so many lables on it that it is a short novel. All of them full of good advise like, "Use on a flat level surface."

So, what do you think about "No Running" warnings on sissors?
