Ok, so i have got to the stage where i will try pretty much anything to heal these buggers in my arm. I have had 3 surface bars in my arm for about 5months now and they are still so red and sore. They have been infected, healed, got infected again and remained that way and i just don't know what else to do. Lots of people have said don't cover them and only use salt water, don't put any creams or anything on them and it's just not getting me anywhere with only salt water. I wash them every day in salt water, i never used to soak them, just dab wet cotton wool all over them till the crusts were softened but they got worse so changed to soaking and they improved a bit. But what with going to gigs and sleeping on them they have been getting angrier and angrier with me. They look horrific but i still can't bear to give them up. They've improved a little the last few days but last night down the pub got knocked around a bit and came home with them bleeding again, so today i got fed up and washed them, dried them, put some savlon cream on the red rings around each hole and then sprayed them with savlon wound wash then dried them. I then wrapped 2 sheets of bandage over them to stop the bars from swinging or getting caught on anything. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I am determined to also sleep on my back from now on with my arm out of the sheets like i did with my hand webbing piercing and am hoping for the best, but really would like some advice or tips on how to get these little gits healed once and for all. XxX
Make sure that you are using appropriate surface bar jewelery for the piercing. Surface piercings are notorious for hard healings. Check out bmezine.com under the FAQ. The only people who can really help are those that see it in person, so go to a repuatble parlor with experience in surface work and have them help out. Peace
arm and especially wrist surface piercings are cronic to heal.. happy to see that you said surface bars, and hope that you meant it otherwise the chance of healing is next to none.. surface piercings can be one of those things that just dont work at times.. ive had a surface bar just under my navel for nearly 14months and its still not fully healed while my nape and antieyebrow healed pretty fast.. arms are just annoying.. sea salt water solutions are wonderful. the best thing possible. a gentle antibacterial soap would be good too. its hard to recommend a brand as im guessing new zealand brands arent around where you are, but look for something NON-ALCOHOLIC, and well, gentle. things that work off the active ingredient triclosan would probaly be something to look for. can always be a good idea to dilute it down a bit too at times. see what works.
