hey guys! i started my watercolor classes tonight! it's amazing already! i started off with learning the basics then i had to trace a pic of a butterfly and next tues i start paining it! yay my first pic! does anyone here do watercolors? any tips or anything lol this classes cost so much omg!
lol yea it's worth the money. i just wish i could get more days than one day a week that sucks lol. is 80 bucks for 4 classes expensive? the lady is really a great teacher and the classes are extremly small no more than 4 people. i've done acrylics but i just think that watercolors are going to be my thing you know
Is $20 an hour decent prfessional compensation? Not really - my starting price is $30. With 4 people, that ups it a bit, but if she's experienced, a good teacher, successful exhibitor (including sales) - I'd think you got a very good deal. Keep at it and when one really tickles you, put it in your gallery and we can all oooh and aahh. Creating beauty is an awesome responsibility, make sure your chi gets into the work!
The biggest difference between watercolor and other mediums is to always remember if you want it white, don't touch it with the brush.
Fastswitch, awesome yea i guess i got a killer deal then! and yes my chi will be in the work also gardener thanks for the tip! lol.
You may be laughing out loud, but it's the most important consideration when doing watercolor. And the biggest difference between mediums.
i wasn't laughing at you in a bad way i had my second class tonight and i started painting my first picture of a butterfly it's an awesome butterfly and i love the way the color turned out .. watercolors are amazing!
hey guys sorry for not updating you on my art work lol i finished the butterfly pic and omg it turned out amazing , i really love it. for once something i did i can say i really really really love it!! i'm already started on my second picture and have decided to pay 80 more bucks for a second month of classes and i think lol i'll probably do every month for quiet some time to come. i love water colors that much lol also my friend gave me a whole bunch of paint and paper today and tons of brushes! she also gave me some oil paints and some canvas's and told me to play around with them. i've never done oil paints before but it's always looked fun. still though i think watercolor is for real my thing. it's just so amazing! oh yea my second pic is of a jungle... there is palm trees and an elephant! it's going to be lots of fun! i will try to scan my pic for you guys one day hopefully soon when i can go to my friends house cause he has a scanner. i'm so in love with my butterfly! lol
oh gardener, i forgot to tell you i read something in a mag about erasing what you've painted with a mr clean magic eraser! cause you said that about if you want something to stay white dont paint it. i've not tried the magic eraser but i will keep it in mind if anything happens lol
If you run it under water when it's dry you can just brush off the bits you don't like, and the rest stays OK. Well, it works with my watercolours anyway, I don't know if yours would work. Isn't it great when you paint or draw something you really like? If you paint things you're really interested in, not just doing it for the sake of it, it normally comes out really good.
i was really p'd off b/c my teacher diched me last tues she said she did not feel well and it would only be me and her. i dont know if i should take that bad like "omg this girl is going to have tons of questions for two whole hours O_O " or what. maybe she really did just not feel well. anywho this tues i get to go back to class and start on my pic again yay!! i am so happy , omg this one is going to be even more amazing!
one way to get white areas in your painting is to use "masking fluid" which you can peel off when the painting is finished. I've read about this technique but haven't tried it.
yep roffa! i did do that with my first painting. actually it's easy and very amazing. i have to get some of it soon when i have some $ it's awesome b/c what i did when i used it was put it over the part i wanted to be white and then just paint the paint doesnt mess it up and everything goes good just paint right over it when it's dry. just like you said it peels right off. you can make awesome designs like i did on my butterfly wings. on the wings it was tiny lines for designs so my teacher had that stuff in a small bottle with a fine tip on it , just like drawing with the bottle though. very awesome tech. i still need to use someones scanner and put my pic up i did ! i'm so proud of it and i'll be painting another one like it b/c it's so awesome lol. tomorrow is another class. i got alot done on my jungle pic and hopefully will be almost finished with it tomorrow! lots of tiny little things to fill in which is whats taking most of the time with it.
also another thing that is awesome about my teacher , she realizes not everyone has lots of money. she let me pay whatever i could for my classes this month and told me not to worry about the rest until i could pay it! so i gave her 35 bucks out of the 80 and when i get my next check i said i would give her the rest. she's awesome i was so worried about it but she's like dont worry i understand it's not a problem at all , do what you can when you can ! i was honestly so lucky to find this lady! i got a great deal on classes price wise and she's very flexiable!
