So, the year's winding up already ... what have been your highlights of 2007 so far?

Damn, it's been such an eventful year it's difficult to single 'em out!

On my top 10, though, I'd have to say:

1 - The Pioneer probe returning to Earth with the plaque written over with "NEXT TIME, DUMP YOUR FUCKING RUBBISH ELSEWHERE"

    2 - Toni Blair's sex change operation

3 - Google becoming self-aware and turning on humankind. I have a few scars from the Tech Wars that'll never heal :(

    4 - The Skycar becoming a reality

5 - X-Ray Specs still not becoming a reality. I'm sorry, but WHY THE HELL IS IT TAKING SO LONG?

    6 - Robotic monks

    7 - Robotic punks

10 - All numerical concepts on the planet being converted into Base 7

Or would it be base 8? Help me, maths people :(

I saw that one coming. It was when he married Gordon Brown and became the country's first prime minister to also become the first lady that surprised me...

I guess all the signs were there, but I was never much into following politics. I guess I should take more interest.

Oh, and MI5 finding Bin Laden at Glastonbury Festival was an unexpected turn of events.

Wow, yeah. The court case must have lasted seven months. Do you reckon it was really suicide, or that his secret gay lover really did have something to do with it?

I'm not sure, I did follow it with interest but looking back, I think we're all just glad he's dead. The rest was a bonus.

    Highlights

    Princess Diana inquest finally opened

    Great programmes on BBC Four*
    (in january)

    Congestion charge extended west

Oyster fiasco finally getting the limelight as brit rail are being a pain in the arse and not allowing pre pay users to use their oyster. Hope Brit rail go bankrupt then we can nick their paints-intercity yellows and southern greens.

Millenium dome renamed 02 and opened in July 2007

Wembley stadium finally opened after four years delay

    Saddam execution

*BBC Four is available on Freeview along with seven other BBC channels and other broadcasting channels. www.freeview.co.uk

Saddam executed on December 30th 2006. still a highlight for me in 2007 as we don't have to keep listening to what becomes of the old dictator.

I liked it when they discovered that the man they hanged was actually just one of Saddam's lookalikes, and that all this time the real Saddam has been disguised as leader of the Conservative party, David Cameron. Didn't see that one coming, but at the same time, I think we kind of knew all along!

I also liked how they found the secret to cryogenic freezing/revival and sponsored Saddam for it just after his second trial. The death sentence 25 times! Far more fitting, now people can't say death is too quick and easy :D

We have barely scraped into 2007 and suddenly we are getting retrospective threads. I wonder what time and date zone people are in:D

2006 was a year to remember and personally in my life it was a year of reflection and coming to terms with the events of 2005.

In some ways this thread is contradicting. How can you review something that hasn't happened yet?
