I melt on Australian accents. My boyfriend's not Australian though but he does a very good imitation of it. Sadly, my accent is just plain American. No offence but just funny because I went to a British School.
Well, that's fair since I mutually stalk you. I'm watching you watching me! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Pardon me. Lack of sleep. I'm going now.
oooh, the Irish accent has to win every time. So hot. Actually, most british accents are sexy, just generally. I wish we had hot accents like that in NZ, but alas, the harsh colonial monodrone will have to do
All of us Americans have accents. The west coast has a particular accent, which is what you are probably referring to, since quite a bit of our media comes out of California. Some Washingtonians are mistaken for Canadians, at least I have been on several occasions. Around Minnesota and the Dakotas, you'll hear an accent that sounds part scandinavian, part canadian, part american. Texans are in their own little world down there. And the southern states like alabama or georgia have unmistakeable accents. Chicago is different from New York, which is different from Boston. So many accents here that I can't think of them all. What you consider to be the lack of an accent would be strange to someone from England, where our language came from.
i have a scouse accent (NW England /The Beatles)and i hate it!scouse is like a very lazy english accent, i hate it when i hear scouse on the telly makes me cringe! Irish has to be my fav but i also like the american accent it sounds like everything thats spoke about in that accent is the best!!!!

As has already been mentioned, British accents cover a huge range of dialects, slang and pronunciation. I'm from North East England, so would probably be classed as a Geordie. But I'm not. I'm a Mackem*. Even though the cities of Newcastle (Geordies) and Sunderland (Mackems) are within 30 miles of each other, there are some distinct differences. Britain has some of the most diverse accents in the world - particularly for such a small country. As for my accent, it goes down a treat in the USA. When working in Florida a few years ago I actually had a wrong number ask me out, purely because "you've got a real nice voice". Waitresses and shop assistants would all compliment me, and ask me to say more. On one trip to a lapdancing club (purely to socialise with my colleagues in the US of course) I ended up with a crowd of the girls around me. I used to be pretty shy, so that was a real event for me! * Mackem is derived from Sunderland's ship building history. They used to make ships, and others would arrive to sail them away. So there were the Mak'ems, and the Tak'ems. This isn't as good as the name given to people from nearby Hartlepool who are Monkey Hangers - a name given after the people of the town hung a monkey in the belief it was a French spy. or the people of South Shields who are called Sand Dancers....
