Do you know anyone in your life that is completely colorblind? Not color deficient, colorblind. The reason I ask is because Daniel is completely colorblind, he sees the entire world in black and white. It doesn't really affect everyday life much differently for us than for most people, but he adapted to seeing different shades of gray (as he calls it), and gets certain colors backasswards. He was looking for a cutting board and said it was blue, and I couldn't find it, I was looking for a blue plastic cutting board. Turns out, it was on the table beside me the whole time, I just missed it because it was purple. Haha.

It's funny how he learned he was colorblind, too. When he was a little boy, before he reached school age, he was visiting his grandparents' and they were watching TV upstairs and he was in the basement, watching the same program. When someone came downstairs and saw him watching the tv there, they asked why he wasn't upstairs watching TV with them and he shrugged and said, "It's the same down here." Turns out, he was watching a black and white television. Poor kid had a hell of a time in kindergarten with colors, too.

Since he's adapted to the world of color as someone who cannot see color, he's actually become better than most at editing pictures as far as color goes. It's crazy how he can see the different shades and what looks good and what doesn't.

So, is anyone here colorblind? Or anyone close to anyone here?

my old boss is colorblind. it was kinda funny because he made the icecream at the creamery i worked at - sometimes he would get everything mixed up and we'd have bright green (almost glow in the dark) looking mint choc chip or pistachio icecream or RED strawberry icecream

Daniel has a really goofy taste in clothes, too! Like when he wears khakis, a gray t-shirt, and black shoes...lol.

My grandpa was colourblind. He would paint his model trains and think he had a perfect red caboose....when it was more like brown....

Apparently it is the X chromosome responsible for colourblindness...so if a man has a defective X, he is screwed. Women have two X's, so it's rare to find a colourblind woman.

I've never known anyone who was completely colourblind, but do know ppl who are colour deficient... it's pretty bizarre. It'd be kinda neat, I think, to be able to see the world through their eyes for a day.

Apparently the way i see the colours blue and green are less vibrant and bright than how other people see them, but the sky and the trees look dazzling to me.

colorblind people see movement and see in the dark better than people who aren't colorblind. my brother, jb, is only red/blue colorblind, i think. he's got eagle eyes, man, even in the dark in a forest in a fog, he can see a mouse lift it's leg to pee (should they actually do such a thing).

Daniel can see in the dark fantastically, also. When we were first dating, we went out to the lake a lot, and since he worked until 9 or 10 every night, it was usually dark before we'd go out and when we did, he'd lead me around the campgrounds, because he could see. I'm never too comfortable roaming around in the dark, but when he's around, I know there's much less chance of breaking my ankle...or having a mouse pee on my leg.

I dated a guy who was colorblind a few years ago. He was a scumbag and he couldn't match his clothes for shit. I always wondered what it would be like to be colorblind.

It's a hunter/gatherer thing left over from the caveman days...they needed to be able to see well to hunt, the rest of us needed to see colour properly to know which fruits were good or poisonous.

wouldn't the smell, texture and shape work well for that, too, though? still, it's a very neato coincidence that jb is color blind and an all star athelete. he was a pitcher and a quarterback. kinda funny.
