buy it, rent it, borrow it, download it whatever just watch it. i dont know whether its just me but i got so much out of it, like i just had a shower thinking and now i lit a candle and just meditated in the dark with just the candle, trying to clear my head and think things through, trying to prepare to live differently, liv by looking at everything from a positive prospective because it can be found in any situaa=tion, it just needs a little seeking

I don't know what everyone sees in that movie. I mean, it's a good movie, but it's not the greatest.

I love American Beauty. The characters are well thought out and developed, the story is beautiful/sad/meaningful all at once, and there are plenty of good quotes. I can see why someone might think it's overrated, but like mrgreenxxx said, it really moved me. The more times I watch it though, the more Thora Birch's acting gets to me. Since I've seen it so many times and have more than the plot to pay attention to, her bad acting prevents me from getting really wrapped up in the story. I'm not sure anyone else could've played that part though, which is weird

A scanner darkly is probably a must-see, i rented it and watched it several times within one day just because it was so crazy, but in a good way.
