I wanted to share this website with you; Joel sparked off this idea to post the link. This site is about a Russian biker girl who rode around Chernobyl not venturing too far out of the centre of the road where radiation levels are the lowest on her bike and took amazing, haunting, surreal pictures; of the empty houses, animals who are now not scared of people because of the lack of visitors. Check out the site for yourself... http://www.kiddofspeed.com/default.htm I hope you liked it as much as I did Beautiful site.
Oh yeah, someone, possibly Joel has posted the link before. To be honest, I could hardly bear it. Very good site, excellent pictures, just the subject - heavy stuff. Did anyone catch the documentary about it? Chernobyl, not the website. They reconstructed the whole day and what followed. It was heartbreaking.
i posted the site in jan/feb sometime, but it moved as it became more and more popular...i really want to write to her or something and thank her for sharing something so unique and special
Kier, that would be a marvellous idea Its an incredible site and the words escape me what it really is like. Grand idea. I did see tha documentary about Chernobyl and how they counted down to what happened. I saw many of those documentaries, they were fantastic... I remember the one about Hiroshima the most.
True, so true... Kinda makes me wanna go there though the solitude must be intimidating but peaceful too. hmmmm....
Wow that site's really good but really eerie and haunting as you said especially the houses, the tank was weird as well. I wouldn't want to go inside the old plant, eerie and shocking. "When the rich wage war, It's the poor who die." - Jean - Paul Sartre.
