I can't decide. I like them both equally for different reasons.

Star Wars. I like Star Trek, but nothing could compare to star wars.

Trek fer' sho. TNG and DS9 are my faves. But TOS had it's own unique charm. The movies, while not of consistant quality, were all badass. They plots were all pretty deep with quite the bit of humor.
    Voyager, however, sucked.

Star wars (the originals) were decent movies - but WAY overrated. I see the possible rip-off of Dune. And the new ones just sucked.

    Babylon 5 is potentially interesting.

I never enjoyed B5. I saw a few episodes here and there. The acting was so so and the story lines were so cliche after Star Trek.

Yea I liked what seemed to be B5's more detailed character development/relationships as opposed to Treks more plot driven stories (which I also, as said, liked)

But meh - not going to go out of my way.

I Actually went to a convention for Star Trek in Las Vegas - It was amazing for my ego! And more - I am not a fan, but the people were so interesting - I mean who spends there time watching Star Trek????? Do you? I have to say and let my words prevail - Star Wars - hands down! Jaba, ewauks, yoda, - come on - there is love in those characters---------- Beauty and applause!

LET THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    "there time watching Star Trek?"

I used to. What of it. ;-)

A convention is a leeetle much for me though...

    DS9 was the shizzle.
There's some heavy philosophical shit in TNG too.

I never understood Q by the way. Was he real or was he only in Picard's mind?

He was real. Picard wasn't the only one who saw him, was he?

no.. Picard wasn't the only one to see him. The Q actually wanted Riker to join their collective, and Q (singlular) tried to get Janeway to have his baby.

Ahh, alright. I never really understood his character though. I guess it's like seeing those ghosts of past jedi that Luke does in SW.

Star Wars. I really agree that it's based on whether you lean towards believability or creative fantasy.

That theory is weaksauce. Can you not have a desert planet with any kind of native inhabitants without copying Dune? I'm sure an episode of Star Trek did it, and it's not like more than an hour of the old Star Wars movies took place on Tatooine. Dune kicks an amazing amount of ass, though, the book and the mini-series (to a lesser extent).

Star wars is heavy inspired by Dune, so what. It is original enough to see it apart from each other.

That site's pretty cool, and I'd agree that Star Wars obviously borrowed some names and concepts, but a lot of the stuff in that chart is just stuff that you'd expect in a sci-fi or desert setting. Tatooine obviously borrows lot from Dune, but overall Star Wars was made as a whole new animal.

I object to any sci-fi movies where you can hear an explosion in space...

Ehm, nah, but I have to say I like both but if I had to choose it'd be Star Trek. They are just more compelling. More original and...better?

Haha yeah, not only explosions. Also fasersounds and stuff. But if I can accept fasers in sci-fi movies, I think I also should accept sound in space. ;)
