Saddam Hussein executed at 12:11 pm on the 30th of December. BAGHDAD - US-backed Iraqi television station Al Hurra says Saddam Hussein was executed by hanging shortly before 6am (2pm AEDT) today. The former Iraqi president ousted in April 2003 by a US-led invasion was convicted in November of crimes against humanity over the killings of 148 Shi'ite villagers from Dujail after a failed assassination bid in 1982. An appeals court upheld the death penalty on Tuesday. Iraq's government has kept details of its plans to conduct the execution completely secret amid concerns it could spark a violent backlash from his former supporters. His daughter Raghad, who is exiled in Jordan, "is asking that his body be buried in Yemen temporarily until Iraq is liberated and it can be reburied in Iraq", a source close to the family said by telephone. What do you think? was this a just punishment? And should his body be buried in Yemen temporarily until Iriq is liberated? Does it matter?
I think his punishment is sufficent but I do believe all people should have other chances to fix and get their life together but what he did so many times is inhuman so my awnser stands.
that's what they say, but it's more like Saddam was "exalted" than "executed" if you know what i mean. and i think you do.
now I guess george bush is next for the murder of 30,000 iraqis 3,000 americans.Lying about reasons for war.
the ruthless fuck got away too lightly. a hanging for the amount of people he's murdered? a russian spy died slowly and painfully over a long period of time after he'd been poisoned - why the fuck couldn't they of used that to start saddam off, and in the stages where the poison really took hold, they should of applied battery acid to the scrotum area.
I don't agree. As I stand firm against capitol punishment, I do not believe that his death did anything more than cause MORE violence around Iraq and possibly the world.
Personally, i think they should let him live. I know he killed millions of people and stuff. Personally I believe that if there is no hope of Saddam or anyone from prison that is going to die to be corrected and taught respect, then there is no hope for anyone. Death is a serious punishment, even for saddam
I disagree commie-dev. The guy was responsible for over 30 thousand deaths, he killed them all, and for what I ask? True that death is a serious punishment, but Sadam got his Kharma in the end. Not everyone thinks that it was a just punishment, or like PsyGrunge said in an earlier comment, they could have made his punishment more grousome than it was. We can only guess what his last thaughts were, and hope that they were possibly thaught's of regret for what he has done to over thousands of lives.
I doubt it. "Palestine is Arab" "Down with the traitors, the Americans, the spies and the Persians." “I am a militant and I have no fear for myself. I have spent my life in jihad and fighting aggression. Anyone who takes this route should not be afraid.” Mr. Hussein was scornful. “I have saved you from destitution and misery and destroyed your enemies, the Persian and Americans.” The guard cursed him. “God damn you.” Mr. Hussein replied, “God damn you.”
Did he deserve to die? Probably. Did we have the right to judge (trial was a flagrant sham) and execute the president of another country? No.
We did not, the Iraqis did. they also hung the bugger. It was their 'justice'. Seems this has created another division in opinion.
I should have said ''It was justice and a fair trial imho'' http://blog.washingtonpost.com/worldopinionroundup/2006/11/saddams_sentence_1.html
