I posted this in the general music forum earlier, and looking it over, it still holds true, but I can't help but think I'm missing something....

    1. Midlake - The Trials Of Van Occupanther
    2. Richard Buckner - Meadow
    3. The Album Leaf - Into The Blue Again
    4. Tunng - Comments Of The Inner Chorus
    5. Nobody & Mystic Chords Of Memory - Tree Colored See
    6. Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit
    7. Yo La Tengo - I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass
    8. Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
    9. Adem - Love And Other Planets
    10. The Decemberists - The Crane Wife
    11. Joanna Newsom - Ys

Tricky list for me as I've personally bought zero albums released this year. My housemates do try to keep up with these things though, so I've heard a few.

With that in mind, my top 5 kinda reads like this:

Joanna Newsom - Ys (This one is actually mine!)
Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers
    Thom Yorke - The Eraser
Tom Waits - Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards

Couldn't possibly rank them at this stage, but my favourite so far is definitely Joanna Newsome :)

I've got shockingly few new alburns this year:confused: So I'm taking the opportunity to investigate end-of-year lists and try to do some catching up! Thank goodness for bit torrent:D

I think we need to have honourable mentions for:
The Flaming Lips - At war with the mystics
Graham Coxon - Love Travels at Illegal Speeds

    Already mentioned:
The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers
Yo La Tengo - I Am Not Afraid of You And I Will Beat Your Ass

    Others I've enjoyed...
    The Crimea - Tragedy Rocks
    Cat Power - The Greatest

A couple from the end of last year I didn't hear until this year!
Jeffrey Lewis - City and Eastern Songs
    The Listener - Ozark Empire

    Still to check out -
Bonnie Prince Billy - The Letting Go
    Mogwai - Mr Beast
    and Zidane OST
... and Tunng, Belle and Sebastian, TV on the Radio and Joanna Newsome

Heard the new Bob Dylan last night and that was pretty darn good. Just the one listen so far, but I did like it. Also heard Jay-Z's "Kingdom Come" and that seemed canny aswell.
