lately there have been a lot of rumours going around my school that starting sometime soon theyll be taking 3 kids a week out of each gym class at random for a drug test. ive been reading up on this and it seems like the supreme court only allows random drug testing for students participating in athletics or extracurricular activities, not just for random kids. i go to a public school in nj and everyones been really worried because literally 65% of the student body would test positive for weed, coke, or opiates... and its pretty fucked up. anyone else know if this is legal??? what doesnt make sense though is like, why not test the shady kids or the kids who fail school..... why test the kids who take part in sports or extracurricular activies... the least likely to do drugs. any input or legal knowledge would be really helpful.
I would of thought they could only drug test for probabal(sp?) cause, like you said for failing classes or skipping school
When I was in high school they used to always have random drug testing. It couldn't be just anybody in the school, though. They had to test kids that either were in sports, extra cirricular activities or drove to school. Our random drug testing was bullshit though. One time they called people for random drug testing, and it was the whole basketball team. How's that for "random". I'm guessing its legal though, since they had done it in my school. And I agree with you. Why would they test kids who don't really do drugs, and not test the kids who are likely to be the ones doing drugs. Of all the drug tests we had in school, I don't think they even caught one kid, because they all were either doing sports or extra cirricular activities, and none of the pot heads in my school did anything like that haha!
well i play guitar in jazz band and i dont wanna get drug tested just because i play in jazz band...... it would suck. not only would i get in all the normal trouble id be in, id get kicked out of the band. i hate school.
